PALMDALE – Legendary diva Chaka Khan will take the stage this Saturday as part of the Summer Sizzle Concert Series at the Palmdale Amphitheater.
“Audience members can expect a fun filled event of food, music and excitement,” organizer Eric Wilson said Wednesday.
Wilson says there’s still time to purchase tickets.
“All levels of tickets are available, the general admission, the premier, which are grass-level seating, the reserved, and we have a few VIP left,” he said.
The concert will be hosted by special guest emcee, Faizon Love, a popular actor and stand up comedian who was featured on the big screen in Couples’ Retreat and on the Parent Hood TV series. Doors open at 4 p.m. and the first performer will begin at 6 pm. Joining Chaka Khan on the lineup will be local singer, Eric Bellinger, Grandson of Jackson 5 hit making songwriter Bobby Day.
Also scheduled to perform is Keith Sweat, a major contributor to the New Jack Swing Era of the late ‘80s/early ‘90s, with chart topping hits like “Make it Last Forever,” “I Want Her,” “Nobody,” “Freak Me” and “Twisted.”
Featured performer Chaka Khan is a 10-time Grammy Award Winner who gained fame in the 1970s as the front woman of the funk band Rufus. Her signature hits, both with Rufus and as a solo performer include, “Tell Me Something Good,” “Sweet Thing,” “Ain’t Nobody,” “I’m Every Woman,” “I Feel for You,” and “Through the Fire.” The state of Illinois has even declared October 19th as Chaka Khan Day.
Tickets are $20 for general admission, $30 for festival grass seating, $60 for reserved seating, and $150 for VIP seats. Tickets are available online at www.summersizzleseries.com, by phone at 866-468-3399, or in person at Pars Restaurant in Palmdale.
Guests who purchase lawn seats are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Carry-in food, beverages, coolers, alcohol and pets are not permitted. Food, beer and wine will be available for purchase.
