LANCASTER – Two carjacking suspects were arrested and jailed early Thursday morning after leading deputies on a chase through Lancaster and Palmdale in a stolen car.
According to a statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department:
“Earlier this morning deputies in Palmdale observed a car being driven consistent with that of a reckless drunk driver and attempted a traffic stop at about 1 AM. The deputies ran the plate, as the vehicle fled, and found the car was stolen during an earlier carjacking in Lancaster, where the victim was stabbed.
The deputies pursued the vehicle through the western unincorporated areas of Palmdale and Lancaster until the car drove off the road and got stuck at 90th Street West/Avenue K, Lancaster. The suspects sustained very minor injuries and were taken into custody without incident. An adult male and female were arrested.”
Detectives did not immediately release the names to The Antelope Valley Times Thursday afternoon, citing the pending investigation. However, the Los Angeles Daily News reports that the two arrested were Henry Hernandez and Deeana Irera and they were arrested around 1:30 a.m.
Detectives say the carjacking and the chase may have happened within the same 24 hours.
“The original crime happened in Lancaster and then the suspects ended up over in Palmdale a day later,” said Det. Feehan, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lancaster Station. “That’s when Palmdale [deputies] chased them back to Lancaster and that’s where it ended.”
Feehan says deputies are searching for at least two more suspects.
“We have two in custody and there are still outstanding suspects,” Det. Feehan said. “We are trying to locate two other people.”
Deputies are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact the Lancaster station at 661-948-8466.
