LANCASTER – The City of Lancaster is ranked number two throughout the State of California for Best Drivers, according to the seventh annual Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report.
According to this year’s report, the average driver in the nation’s largest cities will experience an auto collision approximately every 10 years. Only Salinas – at 10.8 years – and Lancaster – at 10.1 years – can boast a collision rate that is less frequent.
“The City works diligently with the Sheriff’s Department to maintain traffic control and safe motorists’ conditions,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “We have implemented a number of infrastructure revisions and traffic management measures which continually improve both pedestrian and motorist safety and awareness.”
For the past seven years, Allstate actuaries have conducted an in-depth analysis of company claim data to determine the likelihood drivers in America’s top 200 largest cities will experience a vehicle collision compared to the national average. I checked the stats (found them at: http://allstatenewsroom.com/releases/00c90674-c797-4dd0-82c8-3813ccbe1e1e:en-US/download/e3fc06ab-a016-4248-89ef-72454729bd0a ) and it turns out that Lancaster is actually #54 on the national list (improved over last year’s #75). Unfortunately, Palmdale is #80 nationally (slipped from #73 last year).
Kudos to Lancaster for improving their driving safety stats!
