PALMDALE – Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford, mayoral candidate Maggie Campbell, AV College Board candidate Margaret Chavez and several other candidates have confirmed their attendance at the Meet the Candidates Mixer planned for Tuesday, organizer Patricia Shaw said Monday.
The Mixer will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the Larry Chimbole Cultural Center. The event is being presented by the League of Women Voters Antelope Valley.
Shaw says the event is the first of its kinds and gives residents an opportunity to meet and interact with the people who will be making important decisions on their behalf.
“Most of the times these are just names on a ballot,” says Shaw. “There hasn’t been a mechanism in place in the past for people to meet all the people running for these various offices, and they need to meet them because these people are making important decisions on their behalf.”
All of the candidates running for Palmdale Mayor, Palmdale City Council, Palmdale School District, Westside School District, Palmdale Water District, Antelope Valley College, and the AV Union High School District have been invited to meet the voters and listen to their concerns.
Admission is free. For more information contact 661-274-1277 of visit www.lwvav.org.
Maggie Campbell says
My staff and I were there as well as several of my supporters. We were hoping to meet more voters, but there were more candidates than voters.
I had a great time meeting the other candidates.
