PALMDALE – In observance of National POW/MIA Recognition Day, the Antelope Valley Service Organization Association and the City of Palmdale will hold its annual POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony at 11 a.m., Friday, September 16th at Poncitlán Square.
The event will honor prisoners of war and the men and women of the military who are missing in action.
The master of ceremonies will be Bobby Breech. Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford will provide welcome remarks, while Gary Bassett will lead the invocation. Major Conrad Hernandez and the Highland High School AFJROTC will lead the Table of Honor ceremony.
Guest speakers include Bob Morris, Governor of Palmdale Moose Lodge 507; Tom Meisinger, Richard K. Carlson VFW Post 3552 Commander; Marion Wallace, Past Exalted Ruler from Palmdale Elks 2027; and Ken Branam, American Legion 348 Commander. A rifle salute and taps by the Palmdale Veterans Color Guard will conclude the ceremony.
This event is free and open to the public. Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair and sun umbrella to the event. For more information, contact Randy Autry at the parks and recreation office.
