LANCASTER – Deputies arrested four for drug dealing and one for attempted rape/kidnapping in three separate nearby incidents Thursday, according to a report by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lancaster Station.
Sergeant Andrew Sandor reported that around 5:30 p.m., Thursday, the Lancaster Station’s Target Oriented Policing and Community Oriented Response and Enforcement teams were conducting saturation patrol in the area of Kingtree Avenue and Avenue I in Lancaster when three different incidents resulted in multiple arrests.
In the first incident, deputies observed a drug deal taking place on Kingtree Avenue, just north of Avenue I, and arrested 47-year old Benny Johnson and 57-year old Debra Bevans for possession for sales of crack cocaine.
While investigating the first incident, deputies were flagged down by a 19-year old female, who said she had just been attacked by a man behind “Cliff’s Liquor” as she walked to her car. She said the man grabbed her and tried to pull her into his car. She was able to pull away from the suspect and escaped to her friend’s car. Deputies found the suspect, Jorge Rivas, 52, still in his car and pulling up his pants. The victim and witness positively identified Rivas, and he was arrested for attempted kidnapping and assault with intent to commit rape.
While investigating the second incident, deputies witnessed another drug deal taking place at the back door of Famous Ink Tattoo Studio. Deputies arrested Armen Gabriyelyan, 32, and Shaunt Shahini, 20, for transportation/possession for sales of methamphetamine. Deputies also recovered a large amount of methamphetamine inside the tattoo shop, and $2,000 cash.
