LANCASTER – A small but committed group did their part to spread peace throughout the Antelope Valley Wednesday.
The trio, Roxie Patterson, Walter Ranger, and Eugenia Regan gathered at the corner of 15th Street West and Avenue K. They waved homemade peace signs and implored passing drivers to honk their horns and flash their peace signs in recognition of the International Day of Peace. And many complied.
“Nobody can argue with peace,” said Roxie. “We need to do it each and every day, with ourselves, with our families, our neighbors and our community.”
The International Day of Peace, also known as the World Peace Day, occurs annually on September 21. It has been observed by many nations, political groups, military groups, and people around the world since 1981.
