PALMDALE – Two teenagers escaped serious injury Saturday, when their U-Haul rental van jumped the curb and slammed into a tree.
The accident happened on 2nd Street East, just south of Avenue J.
Driver, Deante Garrett, 19, said prior to the accident he and his cousin, Christopher Edwards, had been helping his mother move for three days straight with little to no sleep.
“I guess I just blacked out and then the next thing I knew we were in the tree,” said Garrett.
“It all happened so fast,” said Edwards. “I know we hit the curb and the glass broke, then I just hopped out the car and realized we had a car accident.”
Paramedics were called to the scene and Garrett and Edwards were treated for minor injuries on the scene. Both teenagers elected not to go to the hospital.
