PALMDALE – The fifth annual Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, this Saturday at the Palmdale Oasis pool, located at 3850 East Avenue S.
The event is presented by the City of Palmdale, in association with the Antelope Valley Desert Divers.
Awards will be given for Best Underwater Carving and Best Poolside Carving.
“This is certainly a fun and unique way to celebrate fall and the harvest season,” said Aquatics Coordinator Jacki Nuss. “We’re looking forward to another great turnout as both kids and adults alike have the opportunity to show off their creativity while having a great time.”
The underwater contest is open to ages 8 and above. Participants wishing to carve their pumpkin underwater may do so with scuba gear and a valid ‘C’ card. Younger participants may also opt to carve their pumpkins at poolside. Participants should arrive at the pool no later than 9:30 am on the day of the event.
Registration is $6 for residents and $8 for non-residents.
