LANCASTER – Quartz Hill High School junior Payton Gore is a standout athlete, top honor student, and volunteer. For her many accomplishments, she was recognized at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
“She is truly remarkable!” said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris.
Parris said Gore’s accomplishments as an athlete included three consecutive Golden League championships in singles tennis.
“And this is the amazing part, she’s the all Golden League champion, so imagine the hours and hours and hours she has to devote to tennis,” said Parris. “And she still has a 4.6 grade point average. You see how we raise them in Lancaster.”
Gore is a member of both the National Honor Society and the California Scholarship Federation and hopes to obtain a Masters’ Degree in nursing, anesthesiology or pre-med. She also finds time to volunteer her time to raise money for cancer research.
Payton Gore was presented with the Mayor’s Athlete of the Month Award Tuesday night to rousing applause from those in the audience.

This is great news! Congratulations to Payton! It is rare when you have someone who is a great athlete — and — a great scholar to boot! Well done, Payton! You are one of many reasons why Quartz Hill High School is a California Distinguished School!
