LANCASTER – Many high ranking members the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have confirmed their attendance at the upcoming Antelope Valley Human Relations Commission meeting, including:
- Chief Neal Tyler – LASD
- Commander Eric Smith – LASD
- Commander Anthony La Berge– LASD
- Captain Bobby Denham – Palmdale LASD
- Captain Robert Jonsen – Lancaster LASD
The meeting will also feature Diana Teran and Walter Katz of the Los Angeles Office of Independent Review (OIR).
“If you have questions, concerns, complaints or would just like to meet the Sheriff’s Department leadership here in the Antelope Valley, then, you won’t want to miss this month’s AVHRC meeting,” reads a flyer to promote the meeting.
The joint Town Hall and Human Relations Commission Meeting, was originally set to take place on Nov. 21, but was rescheduled for Nov. 28 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
The meeting will discuss the status of the Department of Justice’s ongoing investigation into alleged discriminatory policing by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lancaster and Palmdale stations, as well as the separate ongoing investigation into alleged harassment and mistreatment of Section 8 recipients in the Antelope Valley.
Additionally, the meeting will address community reaction to the deputy-involved shooting, which took place Oct. 13 in Palmdale, as well as all other citizens’ concerns regarding the Sheriff’s Department.
“Our goal is to build a bond between neighbors who are pulling together for a common goal,” reads the flyer to promote the meeting.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 28, at 1030 West Avenue L-8, Lancaster.
