LANCASTER – Hundreds of spectators braved the cold, windy weather Saturday and headed out to “Christmas on The BLVD.” The annual parade, sponsored by the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, had more than 100 entries. Marching bands, equestrian units, dance squads, and many more strutted down Lancaster Blvd., from 10th Street West to Division Street, seemingly oblivious to the nippy weather, as spectators wrapped in blankets cheered them on.
The following are some sites from the parade Saturday:

What an extraordinary turnout. There are about 500,000 people in the Antelope Valley and a 1,000 turn out for a well-promoted parade???? I bet a parade in Rosamond would do just as well without the promotion.
Are they counting the entrants in the parade as well?

1,000 is a great turnout for 30 degree weather. Why are we so hung up on numbers anyway?? A lot of extremely talented students from High School bands performed and were great! They received tons of applause from the crowd as they marched by, and I bet that felt great for these students who had worked so hard. Let’s congratulate these students and parade participants and stop with this petty numbers nonsense!

I was at the parade and there were probably realistically about 1,500 to 2,000 people lined up to watch. Lancaster’s parade draws marching bands from all over Southern California for the band competition at AV High School that follows afterward.

An organization that I volunteer with participated in the parade and I can verify that there were more than 100 people there. Probably over a thousand for sure!

i would have to agree with matt. i marched in last years and there were well over a thousand then too.
