LANCASTER – A Rite Aid employee was arrested early Wednesday morning for stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from the company and then selling the stolen goods on the Internet, according to the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station. Detectives also seized several firearms and ammunition from the employee’s home.

Detectives from Lancaster Sheriff’s Station recovered stolen merchandise valued at seven thousand dollars. They also seized several firearms and ammunition as a result of a search warrant.
Lancaster Station Detectives conducted an investigation regarding several thefts that had occurred at the “Rite Aid” Distribution Center in Lancaster. The Center had reported losses of over twenty-five thousand dollars during the past ninety days. All of thefts involved personal hygiene products such as face cream, energy drinks and expensive shaving razors.
The detectives determined that the thefts were being committed by at least one employee and that employee was selling the stolen goods on the internet.
The detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s home, which is located in west Lancaster.
As a result of the warrant, the detectives recovered a large amount of stolen merchandise valued at approximately seven thousand dollars.
They also seized several firearms and ammunition inside the home.
They also found numerous containers of gun powder as well as other evidence related to the manufacturing of explosive devices. The Sheriff’s Department’s Arson and Explosives Detail, was notified and responded to the location and took charge of that investigation.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and is facing several felony charges.
The name of the suspect and the location of the home are not being released at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
