LANCASTER – Two architectural planners for the Kaiser Permanente Antelope Valley Medical Center will speak about the new project at the Business Outlook Conference from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24.
The Antelope Valley Board of Trade is hosting the region’s premier business event at the Poppy Pavilion on the AV Fairgrounds.
The city of Lancaster is sponsoring the architects’ presentation, with an introduction by Lancaster Mayor Rex Parris.
Kurt Spiering, vice president of Hammel, Green & Abrahamson, Inc., and Jun Gang, project manager from Taylor AA, have helped develop a master plan for the 44-acres owned by Kaiser Permanente located at West Avenue L and 5th Street West in Lancaster. Kaiser Permanente Antelope Valley and Taylor architects and engineers are currently in the schematic design phase for Phase I, a 60-plus provider medical office building on this site.
As principal-in-charge of HG & A’s Healthcare Practice Group, Spiering oversees the master planning, programming, and design process for healthcare clients. He has been involved in numerous healthcare building projects including the Sutter Health Prototypical Hospital of the Future in Sacramento and Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto. His education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Iowa State University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
As project manager, Architect Gang will be actively involved in the planning, designing and construction administration for the new Kaiser Permanente Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster. Kaiser Permanente facilities are very familiar to Gang since he worked on the Sand Canyon Medical Office Building and Garden Grove Medical Office Building. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from California State Polytechnic University Pomona.
The conference’s keynote speaker will be Boxing Legend Sugar Ray Leonard, who recently made an appearance on ABC’s ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ and was host of the critically-acclaimed show, ‘The Contender’ on ESPN. He also served as a choreographer on the fight scenes for the hit movie “Real Steel” which premiered in October 2011.
Other featured speakers at the conference will be Dr. Mark Schniepp, director of the California Economic Forecast; Joe Brennan, production operations director for The Spaceship Company; and NASA Administrator Charles F. Bolden Jr.
