PALMDALE – Palmdale deputies arrested a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy Saturday evening for allegedly robbing three victims at knife point.
Authorities say the three victims were walking through the neighborhood around 4:50 p.m., near 27th Street East and Avenue Q-12, when the two juvenile suspects approached and demanded that the victims turn over their belongings.
When the victims would not comply, one of the juvenile suspects produced a fixed blade knife, grabbed one of the victims, and held the knife to the victim’s throat until the other two victims complied.
The victims emptied their pockets, giving the suspects an IPod and a cell phone, before the suspects fled on foot into the neighborhood. The victims flagged down a passerby to notify authorities about what had just occurred.
Once deputies responded, a description of the suspects was broadcast to nearby units and the Sheriff Department’s Aero Unit.
While patrol units searched the area, the department’s aero unit advised deputies that two individuals matching the suspects’ descriptions were running along Avenue Q-4 from 30th Street east.
The aero unit was able to guide deputies to the suspects’ location. One suspect was taken into custody immediately, and the other suspect was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.
Both juveniles were transported and booked at the Palmdale Sheriff Station on charges of Robbery.
Deputies were able to recover the victim’s cell phone and the knife used in the robbery; however, the IPod could not be recovered.
The ongoing investigation will be handled by the Palmdale Sheriff Station’s Detective Bureau.
