AV Human Relations Commission election results

LANCASTER – The following individuals were elected to this year’s Antelope Valley Human Relations Commission Board:

* Treasurer: DIANA LOVE

Formerly known as the Antelope Valley Hate Crimes Task Force, The AV Human Relations Commission is a grass roots community-based volunteer organization that promotes diversity and good relations between neighbors in the Antelope Valley.

The commission meets on the third Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m.

The organization’s mission is to install a system to facilitate the reporting, investigation, and prosecution of hate crimes; lend victim assistance and identify initiatives to significantly reduce the incidence of hate crimes in the Antelope Valley.

The AV Human Relations Commission runs a Hate Crimes Hotline at 877-7AT-PEACE.

* The AV Human Relations Commission is not affiliated with the Human Relations Tapestry Commission. The latter was formed at the request of Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris with the goal of bringing together various groups, cultures and individuals throughout the City of Lancaster.

  1. Sir, you have no idea of what I am. The minorities of this valley will continue to stand for what is right, despite the assaults of hateful people. We are not claiming to be victims by any means. What it really boils down to, is we will not sit back while “hate and injustice” runs rampant. Attempts of shaming us into submission will not work either.

    • it occurs to me that if you replace the word “minorities” with the word “majority”, the complete statement is also true.

        • Everyone should at least agree to disagree, without stereotyping others. I have cared for people of all races,even while being called
          the N#@#$ word. However one person did not change my view of a whole race of people. I saw slews of people missing teeth,tweeking,and have nasty sores from skin popping. I could see that this was not the whole of this race. Just as I see every black person is not a gangbanger or some other type of criminal.
