PALMDALE – Illegal fireworks kept sheriff’s deputies busy in Palmdale last night (July 4). A task force, formed specifically to crackdown on illegal fireworks, responded to 83 calls, seized more than 300 pounds of illegal fireworks and wrote 24 citations within the city of Palmdale.

The City of Palmdale funded three teams and command post personnel to target illegal fireworks within the city.
This included four deputies assigned to the county summer suppression team, which enforced the use of any fireworks in the county area.
This team consisted of one lieutenant, three sergeants and twenty seven deputies, in addition to the Palmdale Station’s normal staffing for patrol related calls for service.
The City of Palmdale also placed three City of Palmdale Code Enforcement Officers with each team.
The teams responded to 83 calls of illegal fireworks use throughout the night. Together they seized more than 300 pounds of illegal fireworks, and wrote 24 administrative citations.

Well now, sense the city of Palmdale gets to keep all the money, and the total haul is over 50K, I’d guess that the city will be aggressive in collecting the fines. Besides, public hangings and big fines somehow effect bad behaviors.
