LANCASTER – Traffic slowed to a crawl Saturday on the southbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway, near Avenue L, after a single vehicle crash sent water shooting onto the freeway.
Around 5:10 p.m., a car sheared off a fire hydrant at 15th Street West and Avenue L-8 sending a geyser of water onto the freeway.
It took firefighters about 20 minutes to shut off the water valve. However, traffic was held up for nearly an hour as crews removed mud from the roadway.
No injuries were reported from the parties who crashed into the fire hydrant. No further information was immediately available Saturday evening.
