PALMDALE – Dusty’s Mineshaft Racer has reopened after a temporary closure due to the slide not performing as expected.
“We’re pleased to announce that this fun and thrilling new slide has been reopened for the enjoyment of our customers,” said DryTown Manager Eric Dombrowski.
Representatives from the slide’s manufacturer, ProSlide, visited DryTown this week to evaluate the slide to resolve performance issues that led to the temporary closure.
“We now have new mats made from different materials than the previous mats and they appear to make a significant improvement in the ride’s performance,” said Palmdale Communications Manager John Mlynar.
The six-acre Old West mining town-themed aquatic park also features a 925-foot lazy river, a 35-foot waterslide tower with three waterslides and splashdown pool, and a 6,000 square foot children’s water playground, including a 50 gallon Vortex Splash bucket, three water rings and two water cannons.
Season passes are also available for $68 for Palmdale residents and $84 for non-residents. The cost for 4 or more season passes are $54.50 for Palmdale residents and $67 for non-residents.
“DryTown season pass holders also get special deals,” said Dombrowski. “Present your season pass at the Palmdale Sonic Drive-In Restaurant, and you’ll receive 50 percent off fountain drinks, limeades, iced teas and classic slushes. Season pass holders will also receive free admission to ‘Sundown at DryTown’ events.”
Season passes may be purchased online at www.cityofpalmdale.org/drytown, or at DryTown Water Park Town Hall, located at 3850-B East Avenue S, Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
