PALMDALE – The public is invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday that celebrates the official service launch of the North County TRANSporter, a new service that will provide direct connections from Palmdale to the Santa Clarita Valley Metrolink and beyond.
The grand opening celebration kicks off at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6, at the Palmdale Transportation Center, located at 39000 Clock Tower Plaza Drive.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich will be on hand, along with representatives from the Antelope Valley Transit Authority and Metrolink. The event will celebrate the partnerships and people who made the service possible.
“This new service will enable North County residents to reach destinations all over Southern California,” said Antonovich. “Providing this service is critical to connecting Antelope Valley residents to other transportation services and systems throughout the County of Los Angeles and beyond.
The North County TRANSporter will be on hand during the celebration, so those in attendance will be able to see the new artwork that is featured on the bus.
Bold lettering on either side of the bus identifies the TRANSporter, making it highly visible and distinct from AVTA’s regular service.
The North County TRANSporter, operated in partnership with AVTA, will connect mid-day Metrolink trains ending in the Santa Clarita Valley with direct service between the Newhall Metrolink Station and the Palmdale Transportation Center.
A one way trip between Palmdale and Newhall costs $4.00. Valid Metrolink tickets for connecting trains will be accepted as fare by AVTA. View the North County TRANSporter schedule below.
