PALMDALE – In conjunction with Palmdale’s 50th birthday, the Palmdale City Library has selected Palmdale: First City of the Antelope Valley by Larry Chimbole as the Featured Book of the Month for August.
“This month we are excited to feature Mr. Chimbole’s personal account of how Palmdale became a city,” said Librarian Debbie Melin. “As the city celebrates its 50th birthday it is a great opportunity for the Library to highlight Palmdale history as written by one of Palmdale’s treasures, Mr. Chimbole.”
Palmdale: First City of the Antelope Valley is former Mayor, Larry Chimbole’s first-hand account of the incorporation and development of Palmdale in the early 1960s.
Larry Chimbole, a native of Connecticut, has been a Palmdale resident since 1957. He immediately became involved with Palmdale’s civic affairs, and became the first mayor of Palmdale in 1962.
Palmdale: First City of the Antelope Valley is available for check out from the Palmdale City Library.

George Bush Jr. says
Palmdale was nice back in the hayday of urban expansion. Its sadly decaying. Except for the West Side of course. Funny how Av is becoming a tale of two cities. Even Lancaster and Little rock has segregated roots.
