Traffic stop leads deputies to meth, cash

Authorities seized more than three pounds of meth, a handgun, and seven thousand in cash.

LANCASTER – A traffic stop on Friday night led Lancaster deputies to more than three pounds of crystal methamphetamine, one handgun and more than seven thousand dollars in cash, authorities announced.

Alleged gang member and drug trafficker Christopher Delgado, 37, and his companion Angie Zaldivar, 34, were arrested on narcotics violations.

The following is the press report from the Lancaster Station:

The items were found in a hidden compartment in the floor of the master bedroom closet.

Deputies assigned to the Lancaster Community Appreciation Program LANCAP team, conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of East Lancaster Boulevard around 9 p.m., last Friday (August 17, 2012).

The car was being driven by 37-year-old Christopher Delgado.

Delgado is a known gang member and also a suspected drug trafficker.

During the stop, deputies discovered that Delgado’s passenger, 34-year-old Angie Zaldivar, was in possession of Vicodin pills and a “credit card skimmer “.

The “uncut” or pure meth found holds an estimated wholesale value of $33K, authorities said.

Suspecting the pair may be involved in “identity theft”, the deputies obtained a search warrant for their apartment, which is located in the 300 block of East Lancaster Blvd.

During the search of the apartment, the deputies found a hidden compartment located in the floor of the master bedroom closet.

Inside the compartment, they found two plastic bags of “crystal meth”, a loaded 9MM semi- automatic handgun and a large amount of cash.

Deputies found additional bags and plastic containers of methamphetamine hidden in other areas of the apartment.

In all, deputies seized over three pounds of crystal methamphetamine, one handgun and over seven thousand dollars in cash.

The “uncut” or pure methamphetamine the deputies found holds an estimated “wholesale” value of approximately 33 thousand dollars and could have potentially been divided into thousands of individual packages and sold on our streets.

Both suspects were arrested for narcotics violations.

          • William, I looked at your “romney lies” and they all came from a blog, mine is a blog with links to real sites. This election to me is about the economy. Based on that alone Romney wins. Simply because business is his strong suit. The only answer I have heard from Obama is to raise taxes on the rich, even if he raised the taxes that increase would only fund the government for a short period of time ( under a day I believe). I have not heard anything from obama about turning the economy around…

            The same republicans made a big ephing deal over President Obama’s use of ‘kinetic action’ during the engagement with Libya even though Bush, Rumsfeld and several generals had already used that military term previously. That’s because republicans are pathological liars who believe the earth is 6,000 years old despite any evidence to contrary. Yeah. They think Jesus rode a dinosaur. They are your ‘peoples’.

            Now, what say you next? President Obama is a non-citizen, Kenyan socialist/fascist/communist who is gonna take away your toy guns and rape your sister? That’s what you sound like.

  2. If the warrant specified that they were searching for items related to identity theft, isn’t everything else inadmissible in court?

    • Everything they find while looking for identify theft is admissible. If they pulled up the floor to look for wireless card readers (which can be very small,) than what they found in those crevices is admissible.

      However, if they were looking for a 60″ TV that was stolen, it probably wouldn’t be, because one would not normally find a 60″ TV in a 2×1 hole in the floor.

      They legally could look anywhere a credit card could be as well if they had a well written warrant. Credit Cards can fit almost anywhere.

      So to summarize, if they see it during the course of their search for items in the warrant, it is admissible, as long as it is reasonable.

        • It’s a pretty easy one, and anyone put through courses tends to use similar ones.

          The other is a poorly written warrant looks for the rifle, a well written one looks for the ammo. You can search a lot more areas for a single round of ammunition versus where a large rifle can fit.

          Than again, a smart person can say the gun was possibly disabled and could be located in multiple pieces in multiple areas.

            I’ve listened to Romney for a year now and he keeps getting worse and worse. He’s not intelligent. Clever with his money but not a serious intellect at all.

            You would have to be blind, deaf and dumb to vote for him. And, you can add ‘holding your nose’ as well.

How many things has Obama lied about during his time as President and candidate? Once this country gets away from the two major parties we will all be much better off.

Obama refuses to allow his college records to be released, he refuses to provide any possible explanation as to why whole blocks of records are missing regarding his social security and selective service number.

          • Funny how they say Romney won’t show anything from his past….however he’s shown tax returns, he was governor for four years, and he’s a successful businessman, and he’s wealthy. These are all commendable achievements that these guys refuse to admit to. Their guy had virtually no record during his run for office, but I’m sure he got their votes. Now he has a record of complete failure, having done nothing to improve the economy or country, but I’m sure these blind mice will rush to their polling place and cast their vote emphatically for Obama.

Don’t you find it strange or convenient that the suspects were stopped in the 200 block of east Lancaster blvd., and just happen to live in the 300 block of east Lancaster blvd.? They were either going to or coming from home when stopped. Something ain’t kosher here. Then, again their vehicle may have had a defective tail light or inoperative license plate light = probable cause. Just my dos centavos worth.
