LANCASTER – A 51-year-old man has been charged in connection with the Thursday night (Aug. 23) shooting in Lancaster that left another man dead.
Freddie Wayne Grigsby was charged Monday with one count of murder for the shooting death of 47-year-old Vance Lamar Jones.
The shooting happened around 7:05 p.m. in the 500 block of West Oldfield Street, according to a sheriff’s press report.
Jones was shot multiple times and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, the report states.
Sheriff’s detectives have released little information on the circumstances that led to the shooting because the investigation is still ongoing. Detectives reportedly said that the shooting appears to be drug related.
Grigsby turned himself in to the Palmdale Station one day after the incident and was jailed on $1 million bail.
Grigsby appeared in an Antelope Valley courtroom Tuesday to answer charges, but his arraignment was postponed until September 11. His bailed was raised to $2 million and he was remanded back to custody.
