PALMDALE – A 46-year-old woman was jailed Sunday for throwing a glass mug at her partner’s head and lacerating his ear after an argument over tobacco, authorities said.
Gloria Gonzalez was arrested around 5:16 p.m. for assault with a deadly weapon and booked at the Palmdale Station on $30,000 bail.
The incident happened in the 38000 Block of 10th Street East in Palmdale, where the couple lived with man’s mother, according to Palmdale Station Sergeant Andrew Nagel.
Nagel said an argument broke out between the two, with each person accusing the other of smoking the last of the tobacco, and then the argument turned violent.
“She threw a glass mug at his head, striking him on his ear,” Nagel said. “It cut up his ear, requiring 13 stitches.”
When deputies responding to the scene, the 41-year-old man first told deputies that he had been shot by his girlfriend, Nagel said.
Gonzalez’s fingers were tested for gunshot residue, but none was found, Nagel said.
“She admitted to throwing a glass to his ear,” Nagel said.
Gonzalez remains jailed and is due in court Tuesday to answer charges.
