PALMDALE – Residents are encouraged to participate in the American Red Cross Blood Drive, hosted by the City of Palmdale, which takes place tomorrow (Oct. 9), from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Poncitlán Square.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be on site, and the blood drive is open to City of Palmdale employees as well as residents who wish to donate blood.
Donors will receive two tickets to Laugh Factory, a voucher good for two to Grammy Museum, a $5 El Torito Coupon, a voucher good for two to a Chivas Soccer game, a voucher good for two to a Clippers game and a voucher good for a USC basketball game.
“The need for blood donations is very great,” said Administrative Technician and Blood Drive Coordinator Kathy Inman.” “If anyone would like to donate blood, please give me a call at 267-5229 and I will set up a time for you.”
The City of Palmdale hosts three blood drives annually in conjunction with its employee wellness program.
So far in 2012, City of Palmdale employees and residents combined to donate 62 pints of blood to the American Red Cross.
According to American Red Cross statistics, three lives can be saved for every pint of donated blood.
“We collected 19 pints at our last drive, which can save 57 lives,” Inman said. “We want to add to the number of lives saved,” Inman said.
