LANCASTER – An alert neighbor helped deputies nab four juveniles for ransacking and burglarizing a Lancaster home Wednesday afternoon. Deputies searched the youths’ homes and recovered thousands of dollars worth of property stolen from several recent burglaries in the area, authorities said.
The following is the press report from the Lancaster Station:
Lancaster Station received a report of a Burglary in progress shortly after 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. The caller told the 911 operator, that they had seen several kids breaking into their neighbor’s house located on Rodin Ave near East Ave. H-8.
The operator immediately dispatched deputies from the Burglary Suppression Team to the crime.
Prior to arriving at the scene, the deputies learned that the suspects had left the home and were running away.
The deputies quickly contained the area and two of the suspects were captured near the burglarized home. The remaining suspects were captured a short time later.
During the investigation, the deputies found that the home had been completely ransacked by the suspects.
During the initial search for the suspects, several stolen items were found on the sidewalks and lawns of surrounding homes.
As the investigation continued, the deputies went to the suspects’ homes and were able to locate several other items that had been reported stolen during several recent burglaries in the area.
In all, the deputies recovered property worth several thousand dollars.
Sergeant Bobby Rush commented that this crime may have gone unreported for several hours had it not been for an alert and caring neighbor.

Golly, I wonder if they had a neighborhood watch program through the public safety office. That alert neighbor is a hero. :)
Hector says
What’s your point?
AceD says
I believe her point is that if they did have a neighborhood watch it was definately effective and the alert neighbor did a great job!
Megan says
Thanks AceD. It’s funny how someone can take a simple comment and try to make it about something other than exactly what it clearly says. Neghborhood watch can be very effective as the eyes and ears of the community.
Hector says
OK…I’m having a bad night. Cut me some slack.

Great job by that alert neighbor AND the LASD!

Just like a good neighbor, LASD was there…
