Woman carjacked at gunpoint in Palmdale

PALMDALE – Palmdale detectives are searching for two thieves who carjacked a 23-year-old woman at gunpoint in east Palmdale last night.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. in front of the Palmdale Smoke Shop near 25th Street East and Avenue S, said Palmdale Community Relations deputy Robbie Royster.

The victim told deputies she pulled up to the store and was using her phone when a man opened the passenger door, brandished a semi-automatic gun, and told her to get out of the car, Royster said.

When the woman got out of her car, the thief walked around to the driver’s side and backed the vehicle up a few feet before another man jumped into the passenger side, Royster said.

The two carjackers escaped southbound on 25th Street East, Royster said.

The gunman is described as a Hispanic male in his 30s, about 5’08” tall, weighing around 190 pounds and wearing a black baseball cap. The second suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 30s wearing a black hoodie, Royster said.

The stolen vehicle is a white 2010 four-door Toyota Corolla with the license plate number 6VAN410.

  4. A carjacking usually precede another crime, drive-by or robbery. Are their any reports of a getaway car that match that description?

  5. And this is why we as citizens need to be armed to protect our property from scumbags. It pretty sad when only criminals have firearms, thanks California for making another crime victim who didnt even have a chance to legally protect themself or property.

  6. There is nothing but a bunch a pimps hanging around there, and some of them ask for beer money and when you take your money out your wallet is gone and most like it beat the crap out of you because they bunch cowards hanging in flock of them or riding through you fast with their bikes.
    If the K-9 go in there they will find drugs.

    • I agree with you Lucas. It was just a matter of time untill that happened there.
      Groups of young people hanging around gas stations, tobacco stores and liquor stores are a problem around the Valley Central area too. (Of course last time I mentioned that, I was ridiculed by the Heckle and Jeckle boys.) The people ask for food money, gas money.$$$ I have even been approached by a young girl asking me to pay for her baby’s medicine. She was pushing a stroller around the Walmart parking lot. I reached out and gently moved the blanket…no baby and oh yeah, her medicine was at Burns. She needed cash.
      I don’t know what the answer is, more security patrols by private companies, or if it’s occuring out in the open, more police patrols. I’m sure the LASD and “friends” will say they have better things to do than check on people hanging around asking for money. They do however, have alot to say about the criminal after the fact.
      I’d say, don’t get out your wallet, and keep your doors locked. Don’t park in areas that have people loitering and be aware of who is around you as you walk to and from your car. Use your emergency alarm on your car keys if someone gets in your space. If someone gets in the car with you, turn your car off and toss the keys out the window. I know, easy for me to say.

      • This is a perfect example why average law abiding citizens need concealed carry permits.

        If these thugs knew every time they tried jacking someone there was a REAL threat of being shot, not just the 1% fear of law abiding citizens they have now.

        There are only 35,000 CCW in California, out of around 38,000,000 people. That is under 1% of the California population legally carrying a sidearm on them, we jump that up to even 10% and you will see a huge shift in crime.

        I don’t mind if they require a week of training (one day segments so people who have limitations can still train,) a psychological examination, and final certification with the sidearm to be carried (similar to open carry cert.) It would be better than nothing.

        The second amendment is there to help us defend ourselves from all threats, foreign and domestic. These thugs are domestic terrorists.

        • Good point Bob. I think the main problem with the dearth of CCW permits in Commifornia is the whiney, liberal chiefs of police and sheriffs that won’t issue them. Probably all afraid of being sued because a CCW might be issued to a mental defect. The common good is primary here; MORE CCW PERMITS!

            The state decided it was up to local law enforcement. They are also the same ones who pushed to make sure .50 were illegal to everyone… except themselves.

            These were the same tactics used by Authoritarian regimes to outlaw guns. One has to remember that Hitler and his Nazi regime used a national gun registration system to seize firearms from the average citizen. Similar tactic was used by Stalin.

          • I love how my above comment got voted down. I did not mean to say all law enforcement officials are fascist, if that is how someone misunderstood it to mean.

            What I meant is those in power and want to remain in power illegal have obvious motivation to disarm and criminalize the population in rapid succession. Communism(in the applied form we understand it to be) and fascism clearly prefer the majority of citizens to be disarmed or at a severe disadvantage to the power that be.

            Politicians and certain police organizations who use their “backing” for political reasons were the ones I am referring to.

            Law Enforcement as a whole is not a problem, but does need oversight from citizens (not politicians.) They are here to protect us. They are to be the sheepdogs of society, not the attack hounds of politicians.

            People need to remember cops are not the enemy, and cops need to remember citizens are not the enemy.

      • Yes Gladys. Let’s all hide in our houses with the phone nearby so we can call for help if we get scared. Non-felon citizens need to be legally armed….it’s time to scare the crooks!

          • Because, your comment suggests that there’s no alternative but to keep your wallet hidden, lock your doors, and hope for more private security guards to protect us. All the business will do is pass on the cost of private security to the consumer. If good people were all carrying firearms, they’d feel more confident telling the bums to get out of their face. And the criminal element of the bums would be less confrontational, knowing that you might be packin’.

          • Yeah, give everyone guns…that’s the answer. Then we won’t need the police or security in parking lots and public venues. You can’t be serious. I do happen to be a member of the NRA, however, I don’t think everyone should be walking or driving around with guns. Just my personal opinion that I am entitled :) to.
            As far as keeping your wallet secure and locking your doors, I think you would be hard pressed to actually say those are not good ideas for general safety.

    • You are right. I saw this on TW cable news and was confused when the pic they were showing didnt match with what they were saying!
      Where this carjacking happened is not near Stater Bros or Food 4 Less….its on the opposite side of Ave S altogether. It happened where that new Cabana Car Wash is, behind the AM PM gas station.

      Its just not safe, for a woman especially, to be out alone anywhere after dark. Not that safe during the day either…just sad.
