Man shot to death in Lancaster

LANCASTER – A young man was shot and killed in Lancaster early Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened between 1 and 1:30 p.m., next to Coaches Sports Bar in the 43300 of Gadsden Avenue (near K-4).

Witnesses at the scene said the incident started out as a fight, and then escalated into a shooting. They said the victim was shot at least six times.

The witnesses said both people involved in the altercation appeared to be teenagers, but this information has not been confirmed by sheriff’s officials.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives are en route to the location, and officials are not releasing any details on the shooting until a preliminary investigation is completed.

We will have details on this story as soon more information becomes available.

  2. first off every death is sad whether it may be through violence,or a sudden lost of breath.sometimes peoples outlooks on certain situations comes from them trying to think too much into it,and their thoughts falls short of their reasonings.it doesnt have to do with being a blood or a crip because at the end of the day,he was someones child,brother,father,uncle,relative,friend and anything else he seen fit to be.but he had to die to get to where he needed to be.and once people really can understand and cope with losing a love one,it would be more clearer on where he needed to be.i went to one of my homies funerals and i got the holy ghost from the words that came into the church on living and dying.the preacher said this:inorder for a person to get a job he has to leave early to get to the interview so he would be on time.the lord allowed brandon to die like this because its a testimony.i didnt know this dude but its more of a connection,because he was black and he died young and that hurts.but to his mom i know its going to be struggle because every parent love their babies,but also understand that the lord died before all of us.and we still knock on his door seeking for a change.but jesus has his arms draped around your family.so yall just continue to pray okay..

    • I just read this and was impressed with the fact that you said some things that allot of other people on here want to say but do not say it because that person knows they will be bashed for it and just cause more issues…. I will say this…I have first hand knowledge of losing loved ones, I was present when my close cousins Ol Man killed her…I have also had other relatives murdered and you bet your A S S I wanted to get arrested just so I could go to the county lock up and slice and dice… BUT I WOULD DO NO RIGHT that way. I am old school and eye for an eye is always on my mind (Guido Style) but I know my actions will affect many many others….

      what I am trying to get across here… he was a HUMAN BEING…no B.S. is justified by Bullets, knives, bombs, Planes, or other weapons. This is very tragic and the 3 people I feel the most saddness for…. Brandons Mother, & Father….And His Child or Children (heard the GF was expecting)…. I do not wish that pain on anyone.
      You are not REQUIRED to forgive….It may give you closure BUT it will not bring Brandon back or make the pain go away.
      Celebrate the memories EVERYDAY! Wake up EVERYDAY and do something to make him PROUD and make sure his SON and CHILDREN are #1 before everything…….

    Look, they knew when they planned all these apartment buildings and homes there would never be enough tenants from the area.The fix was in a long time ago aided and abetted by the usual suspects.     I drive around and look at houses that were $400K+ 6 yrs ago, and now they are only $200K if they are still for sale. Some have been rented. They have sheets over the windows, broken garage doors, wrecked cars with oil dripped on the driveway. I saw one house that was beautiful when it was built, it had children on the roof and all the screens were missing from the windows. Hummer in the driveway.
    Investors bought as many of the houses and apts they could get their hands on in the hood. They moved the ghetto out here under false pretense. They are rebuilding and remodeling all those old homes they bought for next to nothing and selling them for bank.

    • Its a ghetto in every niegborhood my cousins aunts uncles and grandmother build houses out there they raised their kids in a environment that didnt except them pure racism hate and evil.i use to spend the summers beibg scared kkk would ride in and kill us…a niegborhood were they started a committed to band and stop my uncles building due to zoming laws when it was obvious he was the only black man in the nieghbor hood for miles. Yes they mightve brung hud housing in however this city had issues way b4 the housing authorities built apatments..now its just anotha type of ghetto and evil

Brandon Macc (Crip) Houston. stop acting like he was so innocent. he was beating up his baby momma and she called her twin sister boyfriend that came to get the baby from him and the guys that went there got jumped and the bloods across the street started shooting. only crips use CC instead of CK at the end of there name. CC also stands for Carson Crip. Look it up Carson california.they got video of the shooter and the guys in jail aint on it shooting they getting beat up.

      • It really doesn’t matter what gang he is from. Carson, Compton, Inglewood, Watts, etc. Gang is gang. It is sad, heartbreaking actually for some, when a young person is killed in such a violent way.
        Why gang people would chose to not turn the murderers over to the cops is interesting to say the least. A piece if $hit killer stinks up everyone’s house. For some reason gang people don’t see it that way, instead it makes them bigger than life. Someone to fear? respect? I don’t get it.

  9. I used to live in those appartments by coaches when I first came out here. I didnt know how bad it was, after my lease was up I got up otta there! People were allways trying to break into my appartment, someone broke into my car, etc. I knew the cheap rent was too good to be true. I feel sorry for anyone who has to live in that area.

      • Oh yeah, and , hypothetically, if we had “stiffer” gun laws, it would only effect those who follow the law. This is the thing that all of the anti-gun people need to get through their hard skulls. It is the criminal that doesn’t follow the laws, so how would creating more slow the criminal down if he’s not paying them any attention anyways. In regards to violence, people have been committing violent crimes a lot longer without guns than with them.

          I am not sure I even understood what in the hell you said. I will reply to the part of the sentence that almost makes sense. Law Enforcement Officers ultimately only report their findings in an arrest to the court where a judge is responsible for actually enforcing the law. I feel that where the judges can, they should be a bit tougher on the sentences issued when it is possible. Hell, I still think crimes like murder should still result in public execution by hanging. Would save a ton of money in regards to our over crowded prison system.

      • Yeah, those stolen and illegal imported guns are the real issue. We need more honest citizens carrying arms.

        Not even 1% of the population of California is legally carrying firearms on themselves. It is like having 1 sheep dog for 10000 sheep. Not even the hardest working sheepdog could keep an eye on a flock of 10000 at all times.

        So to counter that, we need more sheep dogs (either police, or armed and trained civilians.) I personally find it more fiscally responsible to have more armed civilians than armed police who have to be called.

  19. Had many friends live in all 4 apartment complexes over the years on Gadsden and it’s gotten more and more ghetto by the year. I wouldn’t even walk down that street without some kind of weapon for self defense nowadays. Don’t even like going to Coaches to watch a game because of all the scum you have to encounter outside the place.

    • Don’t think this street has gotten any worse than it wa 10-15 years. Back when one of those apartments called the Monte Verdes were. Scary times becuz crimes were being committed day and night out in the open. People seem to forget we moved up out the “Ghetto.” And it is not cute to be “Ghetto.” For some of us who are older the ghetto was a way of life our only means of survival. Never was it a fashion statements. Or a lifestyle by choice.

      Hopefully these people can get justice for this slain young man. I read in the paper it was execution style. If so many people saw it and that area has cameras too, the sheriff should be able to get these killers off the street soon. Praying for the family of this young man.

    This was off of Gadsden Avenue. That area and especially those apartments have been sketchy since I moved here 25 years ago. If something like this is going to happen, it will go down there. The problem is some of the low-income tenants they have.

    • Got to give Coaches credit for still being there but that may change after this.
      If you want to feel sorry for someone, feel for the innocent people who had the crap scared out of them having this happen near their homes and those who had to pick up the pieces.

Compare statistics of violent crimes happening in the streets of Compton Vs. that of the streets of Beverly Hills, I bet you see a bit of difference in numbers. That numbers game is obvious here in the AV as well. When is the last time you heard of a shooting, stabbing, break in or otherwise out in the Gotte Estates? These types of things are more prevalent in lower income areas, just a statistical fact.

  23. The East Side isn’t bad. This was basically in the middle of town. The East Side and West Side both have their own troubles. It just depends on where you are. I live on the East Side near East Side High School and the worst that happens is graffiti and loud parties. It’s mostly Farms out here anyways. I have family on the West Side and they never lock their doors, cause they feel that safe. It just depends on the area. Every place has it’s bad seeds.

  26. School? The schools here have so many wierd schedules. How can anyone keep track?
    Independent studies for the kids and parents to lazy for regular school. Obviously not working a job.
    Just hanging around making more babies with teenage moms and smoking weed when they aren’t busy robbing houses, sticking up gas stations and convience stores or writing stolen checks at Target for gift cards.
    I don’t like the idea that anyone is killed through street violence, but when you choose to be out in the streets living the life, that’s the choice you make. You all know it, the $hit catches up to you sooner or later.
    We need to prepare ourselves for the “eye for an eye”, tit for tat, retaliation. Let the games begin.

            I have no idea how you correlate my comment to anything you just said. The only thing in my comment that could even be close to construed as stereotypical would have been the “irish” comment. In regards to section 8, the comment was that it was easy to connect “low-income” housing with section 8. I didn’t mention or interject any more into that comment than just that simple idea. And on “my planet”, the expression “just saying” means: to inject a statement or opinion that is a blatantly honest statement or opinion that’s likely to insult at least one person with it’s cold, bitter truth.             And William, I am well aware of the types of people who qualify for Section 8 as well as aware of the types of people who abuse it. I was not making a connection to all the folks living in retirement communities and being on Section 8 having high crime rates now was I? Nor was I making a connection that the housing over on Gadsen is known for it’s high saturation of disabled or elderly folks. The connection I was alluding to was that the area was known to be a high crime area, low income, and being low income and a high crime area would propagate the likelihood that there would be a increased number of section 8 abusers in that area.

          But, you automatically make ‘the jump’, which is called, for lack of a better term, ‘stereotyping’. Stereotyping doesn’t mean that all members of a population are the same but your jump to assume that someone living there being on Section 8 is a stereotype. Not necessarily, just low income and even that might not always be true.

          And, I gave the other example of familiar stereotypes regarding S-8 to show that THE stereotype of S-8 recipients is quite varied which undermines the very use of the word even while people actually do ‘stereotype’. It would be like going into Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream stores and ‘stereotyping’ the 31 flavors by ‘making the jump that they are strawberry’ because they live in an ice cream store.

            In conclusion and in terms you might understand. It is likely people who have “low incomes” are likely to live in places that cater to people with “low incomes” and accept program assistance like Section 8 that is meant to help people with “low incomes”

          • Everybody I know of living in those apartments is either Sec 8, or have been disqualified from Sect 8 benefits due to fraud. Or, they are receiving SSD for some unknown reason like a childhood assessment of ADD. For every person on the lease, there are at least 2 or 3 other people in the apartment on a regular basis, not on the lease.

          • Look, they knew when they planned all these apartment buildings and homes there would never be enough tenants from the area.The fix was in a long time ago aided and abetted by the usual suspects. Government moneys were used and this is the payback.Did anyone say to themselves during the building boom “what the hell, there is not a patch of dirt they are not building on, who is going to live there? ” Well now you know what the plan was.

Programs like section 8 and welfare are out there to help families in need. I realize that the system gets abused by many but to put everyone into that category is a bunch of crap. I used to be on welfare, I had a child at 16.. She is 19 now, she graduated high school with honors, got accepted to 3 State Universities as well as holds a job and has her own place. I work hard, am not on welfare and you know what I probably make more money than you. So be careful what you say because you do not have a clue of what you are talking about.

        • Glad you could too. Thank you, my family and I really appreciated it. Everyone who works pays into these programs including myself for the last 17 years. This is not a problem with people of low income… Imagine tomorrow your company laid you off and you had to live off of EDD, which then you couldn’t make ends meet. Would that make you a person of low income? It is not whether you have money or not, it is the way you choose to live your life, look at all of the celeberties that have millions and choose to do stupid things. It is not about what color you are, bad seeds come in every color. If you are determined to be a productive member of society, no matter what color you are or what obstacles are in your way, you will find a way to achieve your goals. I recently relocated here and have to admit that it was quite a culture shock, however I have seen many productive black and Hispanic individuals in the community.

        I don’t think it’s necessarily the people who were APPROVED for the Section 8 voucher. It’s the group of people who come to VISIT them and never leave. They always have their bags packed so it looks like they are visiting, and they sleep in the corner sometimes. But, they are LIVING there.
        I think you probably know, and won’t ever admit that there ARE alot of felons VISITING your Section 8 friends.
        As far as God and heaven and all that stuff you just barfed up..you don’t know who is going to heaven and who isn’t. Lots of gang people and gang affiliated people tend to quote the bible and praise the Lord for being so great when they themselves are crooks living daily with evil intent.
        They too, only need to ask for forgiveness or their sins.

        These kids were in their 20’s and older, why were none of them at work or at school? Everyone off for the day? The same group of young people hang out down that street everyday and every night. It was not a matter of “if”, it was a matter of “when”. I am sorry for Brandon’s mom and dad.

Very sad and not surprising for that area, a neighborhood that used to be nice back in the day.Moved there in 88 and lived at Woodcreek Apts on the corner.When I left 5 years later, those apartments had been built at the end of Gadsden which were rented to ” income restricted ” and major problems began.Now basically a ghetto, very sad.Maybe the Mayor will clean it up now that his offices are down the street.
