3 arrested for murder in daylight shooting death

A man was shot and killed around 1:09 p.m. Thursday after a group fight in the 43000 block of Gadsden Avenue in Lancaster. Hours later, three men were taken into custody, and the men were booked for murder early Friday morning. Photo by LUIS MEZA.

LANCASTER – Three people have been arrested in connection with Thursday’s daylight shooting in Lancaster that left one man dead, authorities said.

Lancaster residents Terrell Henderson, 20, Joshua Lockett, 20, and Randy Sullivan, 34, were arrested around 4:10 p.m. Thursday.

All three suspects were booked for murder early Friday morning at the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station, according to the LASD Inmate System.

As of 10 p.m. Friday, officials were not naming the murder victim because his next of kin had not been notified, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Sheriff’s officials said the victim was a 21-year-old Black male.

According to the latest press report issued by the Sheriff’s Department Friday night:

At approximately 1:09 p.m. Thursday [Nov. 29], Lancaster Station deputies responded to the 43000 block of Gadsden Avenue, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call.

When officers arrived they saw a 21-year-old man lying on the street suffering from several gunshot wounds to the upper torso. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators learned that the victim and several suspects were involved in a fight on the street in front of the location when one of the suspects pulled out a gun and fatally shot the victim.

The relationship between the victim and the suspects is unknown.

There is no further information available at this time.

Investigators are not releasing the booking photos of the suspects, due to the ongoing investigation. They’re each being held on $1 million bail and are due in court on Monday.

  1. People are so eager to “snitch” all the time. I totally understand when it is an innocent person who is murdered but let me put a hypothetical out there. Your driving down the street and see people run out of a B of A and jump into a car and tear out. Would you hang around to report what you saw and help the police? If so, why? B of A took TARP money and is not lending like they are supposed to. They are a Federal Reserve member bank, they accept metricula consular cards and cater to illegal aliens. They are a part of the banksters who have destroyed our economy and devalued our dollar. The central banksters are the real puppet masters for the puppet politicians.
    Some people want so bad to be a part of something they will leap at the chance to help police with anything they ask for. All I want to state is before you “snitch”, think about who you are helping and who you are hurting. Be on the side of people before establishment as the establishment is no longer for the people!

    • So do I understand you correctly? Robbing a bank is making a statement against “the man”?
      I like some of the things you say from time to time, however, this is way off base.
      The robbers are not Robin Hood, they are gangsters/monsters.
      I hate Bank of America, but robbing them at gun point is NOT the solution to that problem. If I could get them to sign off my mortgage while I was there, then maybe…..NO.

  2. You need a citizens posse to handle these young criminals in the AV! If citizens targeted these gang members and “thugs”, it wouldn’t take long before the others were afraid to dress and act the way they do. After years of trying things the orthodox way, it seems to me an unorthodox approach may be necessary. What would people have done in the 1800’s to a group of men who commit crime and murders in their town? It is a big valley with a lot of desert, that’s all I am saying!

    • Report them to Marshall Dillon and arm themselves to defend their homes, business, families and animals. On occassion, the Marshall or Sheriff would deputize everyone and they would go out as a posse.

      Talk to your neighbors, form a “posse”. That’s what I do with some of the mothers in my neighborhood. You’d be surprised how many truant kids STAY OUT of our neighborhood because they know the Bitches will report them and keep an eye on them till the cops get there. They don’t live here and have no business being here during school hours. With daylight robberies occurring in the neighborhoods, we need to be alert.

      We call it NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH.

  4. It never ceases to amaze me how people are so quick to judge another, for their ignorant reasons. Even more-so, when the individual has nothing to do with the situation. Why criticize or get on someboy’s case because they are exercising the 1st Amendment rights! Moving forward… This is truly a sad case and I know without a shadow of a doubt, of all the people (male & female) that were out there fighting that day, SOMEONE knows who the shooter was/is! Ironically, there were only 2-3 people that was placed in the police car that day, and if I am not mistaken, they were taken in as “witnesses” being that they were not handcuffed. If what I have heard and read was true, about a female or “baby momma” making a certain phone call that resulted in the guys going over there, where a fight ensued and eventually led to a death, then she needs to be arrested as well. That is considered a “felony murder rule!” The bottom line is, somebody needs to speak up because somebody knows more of the truth than what is being expressed to the police! I really do not care why Brandon was shot, yes it is unfortunate, and the way that dude shot him was COWARDLY and his actions showed it was “personal!” I will not get into detail for respect for the family hoewever, I will say this: be honest about your childs ways of living. There is not one SAINT walking this earth for we all have sinned yet are still sinning (for those who are). My point is, we do not need to hear “he never did anything wrong”, “he was this & that,” etc. I do not do drugs nor sell drugs so you wont hear about me getting into any altercation with drug affiliates. Grant it, he may have been a good kid, but he also would not have been out there fighting if he was as innocent as I heard he was. I am not here to criticize or judge, all I am saying is, when the Lord takes me, I made a point to my family to not only discuss my good deeds, but my wrongs as well. “He was no saint but he was not a criminal. He had his share of drug use, lies, & deceits, etc, but decided to clean up his life. Since then he was….” (thats for me). I am not blaming parents nor society for an individuals actions, at least not as an adult. What is instilled in a child will flourish upon reaching adulthood. As an adult, we know right from wrong, good from bad, etc. We are NEVER forced to make bad decisions, they are just easier to make due to habit. Actually, Im ending right here, I have wrote too much as it is. And yes, everything I have said in regards to the unfortunate incident, the Homocide Detective already knows. I did not do it for the family, nor for myself, I did it for the VICTIM, becuase his killer NEEDS to be caught and tortured before he spends the rest of life in prison! Such a coward move! (i know I will catch some type of heat from those who read this, thats fine, REMEMBER the 1st Amendment is not only my right… my condolences Brandon Houston and his family.

  5. I have live in the A.V. since 94. Brought my kids up here for a better life. Now I am so ready to leave this valley. It is so sad to see this valley in control of the thugs. I wish the mayor will gather them all up and get them the hell out of here. Where is the plane mayor. I don’t feel safe in lancaster or going into palmdale. Black on black crime. I am so disguise of my own race it sickened me. This is our home not there run one who cause the problem out here. Get on our horse and wrangler these thugs up… unhappy about what I see. This man should not has die like this. God bless His soul and my prays are with his family. I been their lose 2 innocent love one the same way. Smdh

    • People can go to the City of Palmdale and City of Lancaster websites, likely under PUBLIC SAFETY and find out about the Federal WEED & SEED programs. The weeding is the tough part, as residents need to participate. The seeding is the fun part.

    • It is actually not a terrible area, it was worst back in the 90’s and maybe the 80’s. I can only speak for the 90’s becuase during that time, I was a small contributer to the problems however, had some type of connection (good or bad) to others who were a big problem. Not saying it is a perfect place now, but its not THAT terrible. Then again, that is just my view.

      • I have had the same thoughts while reading post saying how bad it is outer here now. But I really know the 90s were pretty bad. I use to hang in the. “Monte Verdes” back then and now today my children walk this street. To and from school. I would not have even walk down that street 15 years ago.

  7. Just because you are in a fight does not mean you are a thug .there’s no excuse for someone to murder anyones child, father, brother or anyone. No human shall take the life of another. My condolences to the Wallace family. God bless.

  8. Back in the 80s, I heard a discussion on gang activity and someone said that these young people are acting appropriate to the environment that they live in for survival. I would add that it’s probably similar to actually being in prison and learning how to stay alive.

    If that’s so, how do we change the environment so that young people will act appropriate to an another environment designed around other values?

    Typically, we ‘non-gang’ people want to keep those people away from us rendering them isolated in that environment further exacerbating their situation as well as perpetuating it.

    But, when those young people find themselves in new areas such as the AV, they aren’t really adapted to this new environment and likely seek out the old familiar one for which they’ve learned how to survive in.

    While I can barely stand to listen to Jesse Jackson speak, I recall that he once said that education was the way out of poverty and crime. Simple as that.

    So, for the future, how do we address creating an environment as well as providing education to these young people so they will adapt to, for them, a different world than the one they were already trained for?

    Meanwhile, effective policing must be maintained but that can’t be the only solution.

Don’t nobody knows wats going on unless they was there just because them boys was there don’t mean they was involved with the shooting because the boys that’s in jail is the ones who was getting jumped by the other people that was there some other fool that nobody knew shot him they got the wrong people in jail and that,s not right the real killer is out there living they life while one is no longer wit us and others are being accused of something they didn’t do

      Your story is not stacking up. Why would someone that nobody knows just randomly insert themselves into the situation and shoot Brandon? It’s more likely that the shooter was in cahoots with the three suspects, and shot Brandon because Brandon and his friends were beating the brakes off the three suspects.

      Now the three guys are being charged in “connection” with the murder because they are refusing to give up the name of the shooter. That’s the story I come up with when I try to apply a little common sense to the situation.

      But then again, nothing about this situation makes any sense so what do I know?

      • Just because he was killed while the fight was going on doesn’t mean that the three that was getting beat up knew who the shooter is people just going off he say she say because Brandon was already hated by other people I know for a fact that the three of the boys did not know who the shooter was u don’t know the whole Brandon was shot at plenty times before the three didn’t have nothing to do wit it it just so happen on the day that he was killed he was involved in a fight an it went out of hand God knows who did it an he’s going to punish them but he also knows who didn’t do it

    • I am sorry Flow but, SOMEBODY knows/knew who the shooter is!! Regardless of who called who, who came with who, somebody knows. He was not just a random guy that NOBODY knows that just happened to shoot Brandon, whether he was losing the fight or not. Besides, the way he ran up to him after he was down, that tells you it was personal. There was something that linked them two together. If they were two random people fighting and the loser pulled out a gun, 9 times out of 10, he would not have did him like that. So, they may have the wrong people in custody, but SOMEBODY knows! Guess its time for somebody to MAN UP! That “stop snitching. Stop lying” BS is for the birds homie!

        • One of these “so called” witnesses needs to show the cops the cell phone videos they all took during the fight and shooting. I have asked a few people if they heard about the shooting and they said “I was there”. Okay if you “was” there…speak up. It could have been your son, brother, cousin or any of your little nephews. They all live there.

          • I agree. I too have heard several people, including an officer, say the same thing about a video but, it appears that officer does not have the footage. Also, there were FAR TOO many witnesses there who are NOT saying anything, and what is being said is NOT the whole truth, if any truth at all.

The society we live is so different .profane language is heard every where on tv in music.no sense of decency boobs and rear ends on display young mens underwear showing,no respect for themselves or others,sex is no longer a private affair,you hear about more patricide&matricide than ever before if I even looked at my parent wrong or sassed I got a swat as well as a well deserved punishment if you whip? your child now it considered abuse.as far as a racial thing think columbine,amy fisher.menendez brother,amy preasmyer who had ricky cowles killed she lived in that area.I am all for progress. But it would be nice to have the world the way it use to be: innocence has left the building.

  13. I’m kin to one of the guys in there and there bit gang members. The girl that’s pregnant sister is pregnant by the guy that’s dead. He was beating her up and she called her Twin sister boyfriend to go get her baby and done bloods were across the street and they jumped them. They have video off the shooter

  14. I want to know why wasn’t the young lady wasn’t arrested she call the boys to come over there and fight she just as much a person of interest as the other three because if she would of never made the call he would still be alive.

  15. I have been long time resident of AV and a I have lived on “both sides of the tracks.” AV has come along way but has been missed guided by R. Rex Parris. Targeting specific groups individually as if it is any worse than the next is truly predjudice. Proactively cracking down on all violent offenders would make more since. My opinion only. Anyways having lived in various low income areas whether they be houses or apartments in Lancaster or palmdale. I must say things have changed. In 1996 pizza wasn’t delivered after dark today in the same areas they will bring you a pizza at 11pm. 10 years ago people starting moving up here for a so called better place for there children to grow up. Blind to the fact they were bring the problems with them that they thought to escape. Young. Kids and teens claiming they were something they weren’t and with committing parents they had a lot of adult free time. So I am pretty sure some young teens have paid their debts from their young adult life’s. R.Rex Parrish needs to understand when he made the statement we don’t want your kind in our city and we are not looking to rehabilitate you his is making that statement to adults now who didn’t choose to move here but came with their parents and have now made the AV. Home that maybe you should look to rehabilitate because these adults now would be perfect mentors for today’s youth. Just my thoughts on some issues.

    • I understand what you are trying to say went to High School in AV graduated 1995. Alot of my school mates had only been in the area. A few years and aloe of those kids ended up at desert winds or not even finishing school I could only imagine how their lives turned out they weren’t. From here but eventually this became their home. In high school we had are tagging crews and ravers that gradually became more violent. Then we had the. Kids representing hoods that they were not from but their older siblings were. We had Nick names for all of the only 4 high schools here at the time. AV HIGH was the worst located in a low income area it always had something going manly stabbings quite often with icepicks. So when I had to enroll my son into AV as a freshman I was almost in tears. But I must say my son loves AV he is in 10th grade he has not had any major problems but he is also very active in school so staying busy is the key to staying out of trouble. Some of these teens and young adults men and women need to MAN UP and start thinking about their actions before instead of after a situation. Cuz what might had been a simple I’m mad at him so let me call my people and there is all kinds of yelling but ain’t no one Listening quickly becomes a battle of power people bumping heads for nothing now a life is 6ft. Under. And 3 other men basically will soon lose there lives. FOR WHAT? I AM CURIOUS TO KNOW IF THEY CAN GIVE AN HONEST ANSWER TO THE REASON WHY THEY DID WHAT THEY DID AND IF THEY HAD LOGICAL REASON WOULD THEY FEEL IT WAS WORTH LOSING THEIR LIVES FOR TAKING SOMEONE ELSES LIFE. I truly don’t feel they would have a legit reason behind what happened and the ending result. So much might had been avoided if they would haD PUMPED ON THEM BRAKES BEFORE KICKING ALL THAT IN THE MOMENT ADRENALINE INTO HIGH GEAR. just a thought for R.Rex Parris.         I think you are so right about the guys not even knowing what they were fighting about. Some girl called her friends and look what happened.
        This stuff happens at parks and pizza places all the time. Not the shooting part, but it’s just a matter of time. Everyone knows these “kids” have guns.

        • Yes art age 35 I am the proud parent of a 16 y @ old. 7 yr old and 5 yr old. Can’t say I am where I would like to be in life because yes being a single parent at 19 kinda made things hard. But I have survived. And through the thick and thin I have managed to keep my family together. My three children are who keep me motivated and positive even when times were rougher than others money or no money I have to provide for my children cuz without them I am truly nothing.

  16. So it’s the Wild Wild West here in Lancaster, Ca nowadays. I’m not surprised at all as I’ve witnessed that a whole lot of thugs have moved to Lancaster, Ca due to cheap rent. Easy escape routes and a whole lot of small businesses doing an honest day’s job. These thugs were obviously up to no good. Apparently, Rex R. Parris hasn’t rounded up the Bloods, but then there are Crips out there and it’s not a nice safe place anymore. Just look around you each day and lock your car doors the minute you get in to your car. Avoid areas that are not well lit. Hang on to your purses. And run like the dickens if your hear a fight breaking out since someone might pull out a gun and shoot; daytime or night doesn’t matter anymore.

    Three versus one was not a fair fight to begin with, but using a gun on top of it? Ridiculous and callous.

    • Everybody thinks they are hard. Many young black men and latino walk around with lil respect for anybody in the community. This is the outcome of poor parenting, poor school systems, lack of jobs and finally poor law enforcement. Police are not doing enough to make sure people think twice before breaking laws in Lancaster. Lets remember when the mayor didnt want Mongols motorcycle gang having there event at the Desert Inn. Well he closed the darn thing and had every police officer on stand by. Why not put the same effort into the rest of lancaster. this people (shooters) show lil respect for life and the law. Its time local sheriff allow its Lancaster and Palmdale residents to feel safe. Please dont allow young punks to take the city. We movved here for change but its seems like its getting out of control.
