LANCASTER – Calling all bargain hunters with a conscience!
The Willows Apartments in Lancaster is the place to be Saturday morning (Dec. 1) – and please bring your recyclables.
A huge Yard Sale Fundraiser kicks off at 7 a.m. for Team Oliver, a movement to support two-year-old Oliver Kei.
The Quartz Hill toddler was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare condition called Xeroderma Pigmentosum. He cannot be exposed to sunlight because his body cannot protect itself from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Read Oliver’s story here.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the yard sale will be donated to Oliver’s family for his care.
“Let’s show them that we’re all in this together, and they’re not dealing with this alone,” said Team Oliver creator Laura Mathews said.
Mathews’ daughters, Shelby and Reagan, have made beaded bracelets that glow in the dark and say “Team Oliver,” and the bracelets will be sold at the yard sale.
Emma, another family friend, will have recycling bins at the yard sale with 100% of the proceeds going to Oliver.
The yard sale will also feature dozens of bargain items, including refrigerators, stoves, Christmas decorations, clothes, toys and more. There will be an appearance by skateboarding bulldog Bony Hawk, as well as a bake sale, with donations from Nadia Cakes and other community bakers.
The Team Oliver Yard Sale starts at 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Willows Apartments, located at 1608 West Avenue K-8 in Lancaster.
