PALMDALE – There are still spaces available to donate blood at the City of Palmdale’s American Red Cross Blood Drive this Thursday, March 28, from 9 am to 3 pm.
The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be stationed at Poncitlán Square and will accept donations from both City of Palmdale employees as well as residents who wish to give blood.
All donors will receive discounted tickets to a Sesame Street live show at the Nokia theater and a voucher good for two to a LA Galaxy Soccer game.
“The need for blood is constant and every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood,” said Administrative Technician and Blood Drive Coordinator Kathy Inman. “The American Red Cross must collect more than 17,000 pints of blood each day for patients at more than 3,000 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country.”
“If anyone would like to donate blood, please give me a call at 267-5229 and I will set up a time for you,” Inman said.
The City of Palmdale hosts three blood drives annually in conjunction with its employee wellness program.
In 2012, City of Palmdale employees and residents combined to donate 95 pints of blood to the American Red Cross.
“Statistics tell us that three lives can be saved for every pint of donated blood. We set a goal of 100 pints for 2013,” Inman said. “That’s potentially 300 lives and with family and friends, thousands of very grateful people.”
