PALMDALE –The City of Palmdale’s “Semester of Service” program continues with the third of its four “themed” tree plantings, which will take place in 2013 throughout Palmdale.
The City will celebrate Cesar Chavez Service Day with tree plantings on Saturday, March 30 at Domenic Massari Park, 37716 55th Street East, and Marie Kerr Park, 39700 30th Street West.
Registration will take place between 8 and 9 am, and the tree planting will occur from 9 to 11 am.
Through a grant funded by CalFire, 450 trees will be planted in Palmdale by April.
The final “themed” tree planting event will be Global Youth Service Day on Saturday, April 27 at Marie Kerr Park, 39700 30th Street West.
Organizations, clubs, churches, neighborhoods and individuals are invited and encouraged to participate.
Palmdale kicked off its “Semester of Service,” by participating in the “National Day of Service” in recognition of Jan. 21 being Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with an “Adopt a Block” clean-up event and BBQ at Focus Neighborhood #1.
Saturday’s tree planting is being held in collaboration with the Hollywood Beautification Team and CalFire.
