PALMDALE – A 22-year-old Palmdale man was on life support Wednesday after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a power pole and chain link fence, authorities said.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in the collision, which occurred around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday night in the intersection of Rancho Vista Bouelvard and 15th Street East, according to deputy J. Heald of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station traffic detail.
Alejandro Ocampo was driving a 2011 Honda Civic westbound on Rancho Vista Boulevard, when he changed lanes, passed another westbound vehicle and lost control of his car, Heald stated.
The Honda drove into the shoulder and then collided with a power pole and a chain link fence bordering USAF Plant 42, according to Heald.
Witnesses said the car flipped a few times before colliding with the pole and fence.
Ocampo sustained serious injuries and received first aid at the scene from Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel. He was transported to the Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.
Wednesday morning, family members said Ocampo had been put on life support, according to deputy Jeff Perkins of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station traffic detail.
Rancho Vista Boulevard was closed to routine traffic, between the intersections of 15th Street East and 25th Street East, until approximately 3:30 a.m. Wednesday while the incident was being investigated.
The collision remains under investigation by the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station traffic detail.

Maybe if bloody pictures of mangled bodies were posted instead of wrecked automobiles people would think twice before driving under the influence of anything.

If I could thumbs up you , I would,,, I agree showing a wrecked car does not give you the full impact of everything… show the aftermath of what comes from this…
Well Spoken. thank you

When will the DUI's stop says
Another DUI accident where someone has been critically injured. When will people understand that driving while drunk or on drugs hurts people, meaning either the driver, passenger or their families. I am saddened by all these DUI reports/stories. Please God, let these drivers come to their senses.
