UPDATED: Man dies after assault at Lancaster nightclub

LANCASTER – One suspect is in custody in connection with an assault at a Lancaster nightclub that left one man dead early Saturday morning, authorities said.

The incident was reported around 12:37 a.m. Saturday in the 44200 Block of Division Street in Lancaster, according to deputy Don Walker of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to a head injury, Walker stated.

A friend of the victim said the man was beaten with a toilet cover in the bathroom of the Mango Tango nightclub.

Sheriff’s officials have not confirmed this information, saying only that “the man was the victim of an assault at a local bar.”

The suspect’s identity is being withheld due to the ongoing investigation, Walker said.

There is no further information available at this time.

UPDATED 9/29/13: The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Luciano Juarez of Lancaster, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

That’s really sucks and I was told by a friend that the person who’s in custody is an ex gang member that worked at the international shopping mall in Palmdale (the shopping mall ) as a security guard I don’t think this was his first time that he acted in this matter and was also known to do lots of drinking and drug. I hope Justice can be served and the family make it thru this hard Tim

  3. Chano was a great person in all aspects!! He was a hard working man we worked together! he knew my family! my five year old said that chano was his best friend when i told him what had happened he started crying he asked me who did it and why I had no answers for my boy! This is such a big tragedy and the worst part is that chano was an innocent person that never liked to mess with anyone. I wish that I would’ve been there and this wouldn’t had happened he would still be here with us!!! [removed] MANGO TANGO HAVE THEM PAY FOR THE FUNERAL AND ALL COSTS!! My condolences to the family!!   6. Can we get off the demographic case for just a moment to allow those to mourn the loss of a loved one? This man, Luciano a.k.a Chano, was the most big-hearted, funniest man, I ever had the pleasure of knowing for the past 11 years. He was always willing to help out anybody whether it be financially or emotionally. If you were down, he was certainly the one to make you smile. He had no gang affiliations, no beef with anybody, and was only ever looking to have a good time with his family and friends. He leaves behind 3 adult children; 2 sons and a daughter. I happen to be the younger son’s best friend. This was such a senseless, violent act that shouldn’t have happened. All Chano was trying to do was have a good time, have a couple drinks, heck, dance a little bit. I’m told 2 guys in the restroom jumped him one after the other, and the back of his head hit the toilet causing a severe concussion. The first coward apparently went back to the bar for one more drink before fleeing. I believe he was caught. While the other took off running into the adjacent field. If anybody has anything about this 2nd wanted man, please provide the info to the sheriff’s dept. The family is desperately seeking closure and wanting to know who the scum is, and why they did this to such an innocent loving man.

  8. This place is worse than most of the areas in So. California! I’ve lived here for almost 20 years and it has gotten progressively worse over time. They don’t tell you the truth because that would make R.X. Perris look bad. This is the place they get away with murder and crimes go unsolved. It’s a joke and not funny for most of us. I for one think its unsafe and pretty ghetto any more. There is more crime in the politics up here then in the City of Bell!!! And I don’t mean Jim Ledford he has done a great job for Palmdale. Hope I don’t end up dead for writing this. Lol!!!! Just saying. My sympathy for the family of the latest victims, your in my prayers.

  10. I received a job offer in Lancaster so I came here looking for information on this area. The city website makes everything appear like paradise so I thought what better place to figure out what is the truth (sorta) than the newspaper. I have no idea what the “demographic” of the neighborhood, but most of the comments here seem racial charged. Now, I could be wrong. The “demographic” could mean poverty stricken and drug infested. However, that isn’t the tone that I was getting from the comments. There is crime everywhere. In fact I just moved from an area with barely any minorities yet the crime rate is still climbing. At any rate, I would not want to move my family to a place where bigotry is the norm.

    • When I moved to California, I came up here for a drive and there was nothing here 33 years ago and I love small towns. If I could sell my house I’d be out of here in a heartbeat. It may look nice but believe me the crime has gone up ten fold. I would never recommend anyone to live here. Besides, there aren’t any jobs. What you see is what you get. The AV Press lies about how it is up here. I live in a nice, quiet area, but the fear of the element is what takes over. Get the heck out of here. Our city leaders are corrupt also.         It’s the element up here. Some people enjoy hurting others and have no remorse. The AV is a haven for criminals.

        My husband was raised up here and was a cop for many years and he comments on the negative changes. I’m very grateful he educates me on personal safety.

        • I agree with Gemini. If it is was in anyway possible for me to flee the AV at this time… I would be long gone. I was walking home from work late last night and passed by Mango Tango. The door was wide open, business as usual.. the beat goes on. Smh. The -crime is increasing by the hour here. There are a couple older ladies who own their homes on my street. They’ve both endured having their homes invaded and burglarized more than once. Thank God neither was home when they happened. I could go on and on about the mayhem that’s gone on, just on my street alone. It’s scary. I’ve been here since 1999. Lived in Palmdale, moved to Lancaster. My sister has been here since the early 80’s, and talks about how both cities have gone down and to the dogs. Like I said, if I could more right now I would. I have a decent job here right now, and I’m saving and preparing to MOVE the heck outta. Hopefully in the very near future. Stay safe folks.

      You hit the nail on the heas, so if you have the ability to not move here, that is what I would suggest. I can't wait to retire and get out of this hole. And I've lived here since 1957. Believe me…since the powers that be built the State Prison, against our willl and counter to our votes…this place has gone from a nice place to raise a family and live forever to a toilet drain pipe. Can't get out of here soon enough.

  14. Upscale, lowscale, noscale. No matter the demographics, crime happens everywhere. Alcohol being in the mix just made it worse. What We all need to remember is that Someone list their life and a Family is mourning that loss!

  18. This is terrible! I am so sorry for this poor soul. The AV has become a garbage dump and these murderers are real trash. I pray they get them soon and the law does its job. My condolences to the family.
