Woman killed, husband injured in Lancaster crash

LANCASTER – A 63-year-old Van Nuys woman was killed and her husband severely injured Tuesday afternoon when a collision sent a car into oncoming traffic and caused a head-on crash in a Lancaster intersection, authorities said.

The incident happened around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 in the intersection of Challenger Way and Kettering Street, according to Sgt. Dave Jennings of the Lancaster Sherriff Station.

A 2003 Cadillac CTS was traveling west on Kettering Street when its driver failed to make a complete stop at Challenger Way and began to cross the intersection without yielding to oncoming traffic, Jennings stated.

A 2001 Ford Focus traveling south on Challenger Way crashed into the right rear of the Cadillac and then careened off the Cadillac into the northbound lanes of Challenger Way, Jennings stated.

The Ford Focus collided head-on with the couple’s 1990 Honda Accord.

The 63-year-old Honda driver was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital where she died of her injuries. Her husband, who was in the front seat, received major injuries but is expected to survive, Jennings stated.

Four other victims were transported to Antelope Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Jennings.

The names of the injured were not immediately released.

The driver of the Cadillac CTS was cited, Jennings stated, and they’ll decide whether or not to file charges after the investigation is complete.

UPDATED @ 4:45 p.m. 11/6/13: The deceased has been identified as 63-year-old Antonia Reisner, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

    If you want to do something to give this good lady and her family credit
    Please go back to school and learn how to speak and spell correctly.

Please everyone pray for this family to keep them strong through this horrendous time. RIP Antonia. And to whomever comments please be respectful of this situation.   6. I lost my best friend, my rock, my mom. I can’t point my finger at anybody but I do hope that if needed, this person be held responsible. My mom was the most cautious person when it came to everything especially driving. My mom did not deserve to die in a tragedy. She lived a peaceful, straight ,healthy life. She deserved to live a long life. She should be here, with us, getting ready for the holidays not a funeral! And guess what, this irrespinsible driver that caused this is probably at home chilling.
    She leaves behind a husband, my dad, who is in the ICU, fighting for his life. Children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, this is just jacked up situation. Rest in peace dear mother..rest in peace. My angel…Antonia Reisner 7/14/50~ 11/5/13

    • Words cannot explain da way i feel write now we always listen to da crazy tragic things dat go onin da news but we never think about it happening to our loved 1s Antonia was a hard working lady she was da type of person who never gave up on anyone or anything even when da chips were down she was loved by many someone who i will never forget only God knows da grieving family she left behind may God be with them n guide dem through dis difficult time dis is every1s worst nightmere and greatest fear u will always be remembered Antonia may u rest in Paradise u will always be in our hearts i know ur taking care of ur Precious family from upstairs as dey need u now more than ever :'(

  11. The driver of the Cadillac needs to be charged with her death! Enough of these excuses and “oh, but the driver is such a good person…”
    They are responsible for the death of another person whether intentional or not due to their actions & we need to start to hold these ppl accountable!

    • Yea sounds good but lets jus hope an incident like wat happened to the person that caused the accident never happens to one of ur loved ones. First of all u dont even kno if the other peraon was fleeing for his/ her life so until u find out all the details shut ur trap!! May the Lord comfort the family members of the deceased at this time of need losing someone is never easy:( my condolences goes out to the family.

      • Even if they were “fleeing for their lives” No one has the right to endanger another person.

        Mistakes happen, but the driver of the car that didn’t make a complete stop chose to do what they did for whatever reason and should be held accountable.

          • Please read again….. Driver failed to make a complete stop so he or she was driving carelessly! They broke the law!!! which in turn deserves a penalty. Are you having a problem understanding the English language?

            Now I’m sure this person is suffering and scared for what is going to happen to them, which they should but they need to be punished in some way, especially taking their license from them. If that was me, I know I would never drive again.
