  1. Well, Wrecks keeps digging the hole deeper. Now he wants all phone records, text messages, etc. from Antonivich’s office from last year regarding the power plant issue and his replacement of Vern Lawson Jr. on the AVAQMD board.

    I’m guessing he’ll find nothing, nothing at all to work with. Then, he’ll claim a ‘cover up’. Isn’t that just like him?

    So, small business and Lancaster business in general will suffer from Wrecks’s non-stop attacks on Palmdale and now Antonovich.

    He just can’t help himself.

    AS WE CONCLUDE A VERY CONTROVERCIAL 2013, IT IS CLEAR THAT OUR MAYOR R. REX PARRIS HAS BECOME LESS AND LESS VISIBLE TO HIS CONTSTITUENTS. PERHAPS THIS IS DUE TO HIS SPENDING TIME AT HIS HOUSE IN LAGUNA NIGUEL OR WITH HIS PLANE AND PILOT OR SPENDING ALL HIS TIME SUING OUR NEIGHBORING CITY TO THE SOUTH OVER VOTING DISTRICTS THAT WE DON’T HAVE OURSELVES. NEVERTHELESS, VICE MAYOR MARVIN CRIST SEEMS TO BE IN CHARGE ON A COUPLE OF ITEMS AT LEAST. MARVIN HAS BEEN THE POINT MAN TO SELL BYD BUSSES TO THE AVTA NO MATTER WHAT THEY COST AND WAS A BUSY BEAVER AT THE END OF THE YEAR SPEAKING TO NEARLY EMPTY ROOMS OF PEOPLE WITH THE FERVOR OF AN EVANGELEST ABOUT THE HORRORS COMING TO THE CHILDREN OF LANCASTER BY WAY OF THE POWER PLANT IN PALMDALE.

    THE EYE IN THE SKY HAS PROVED TO BE A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY UNLESS YOU ARE A WALMART STOCKHOLDER. THE EYE IN THE SKY IS VERY GOOD AT CATCHING WALMART SHOPLIFTERS AND NOTHING ELSE.

    ONE BRIGHT SPOT DURING 2013 WAS THE EVENTS. IT WAS A LOT OF FUN DRESSING UP FOR HALLOWEEN AT THE BOOLVD PARTY. IT WAS FUN GETTING TANKED AT THE STREETS OF LANCASTER RACE AND GETTING PLASTERED AT CELEBRATE AMERICA. IT WAS EVEN MORE FUN GETTING DRUNK OFF OUR BUTTS AT THE FIELD OF DRAFTS BEER FEST AT JETHAWKS STADIUM. STILL NOT SURE HOW THE LANCASTER BAPTIST CROWD PUTS UP WITH ALL THESE BOOZE FESTS.     • Very good report. I hope yo continue to post. The people need the truth and, alas the AV Town Crier is kaput since I retired.

      • Truth and Opinion are mutually exclusive and here there is more opinion than Truth. At best it’s selective to bolster an opinion and at worst intentionally deceptive and of no service to the many businesses which are named here and in fact still in business.
        You know it’s one thing to disagree with the actions of the City and the elected officials, but how about in 2014 everyone try to focus the gaze of frustration more directly at those responsible for it and not at the small business owners.
        Anyone can search this site and specifically the respective businesses Facebook pages to see that many of them are still operating. Some have moved their businesses to other communities and others have just relocated to what they feel are greener pastures. It’s hard enough to be in business the last thing anyone needs is to be used as a punch line for digital dribble.

        There is no valid retort either, the intent is obvious and there is no need for it.

        How about everyone try to be more productive instead of destructive in 2014. We might actually accomplish something good for community for once.

        • Adam is right. Don’t take it out on the small businesses. Take it out on Rex. I’m no fan of the clown. Although I enjoy his being spanked here, I plan on donating to those running against him. It will go a lot farther than bad mouthing him. Rex has money. Those who run against him don’t! Level the playing field. Start with his hand picked council. In less than 4 months there will be an election. Get rid of Rex’s “yes” men.

          Do Lancaster’s small businesses a huge favor, get off your asses, and work at getting rid of Rex and his pets.

          If you’re a small business, being hurt by the fact that half the valley won’t shop at your stores because of Rex, get busy replacing him and his. Until he’s gone, all the pointing out that it’s Rex and not you, won’t do you a bit of good.

          Until there is a new face representing Lancaster, your business will suffer. To much water under the bridge for those who he’s made enemies! Potential customers won’t start shopping Lancaster because they feel sorry for you. No forgiving Rex his trespasses, and shopping Lancaster.

          Want business to double? Dump your mayor!

            Exactly. No one is against small businesses but Adam Chant keeps playing that tune. They are against Rex Parris and as long as he is mayor and pulls stuff with his neighbors in Quartz Hill and Palmdale, people don’t want to patronize his city and give him sales tax dollars.

            Small business owners need to take it up with Rex and not blame people for not shopping and dining in Lancaster. That won’t bring them back.

            Simple as that.

            Does anyone other than Adam Chant think that the BLVD was going to be the ‘world class ramblas’ that Rex bragged about? It was predictable from the onset that the it would turn out just as it has- bad location, bad traffic flow, bad parking, and bad planning.

            Can Adam explain how an established business like Barone’s couldn’t make it on the BLVD? They weren’t amateurs. There is little pedestrian traffic unless there’s an event. It’s hard to say what will work to make it work now without spending another $10 million in more landscaping and that’s is still iffy.

            Has Adam ever spoken directly to Rex about his bad public relations and how it’s affecting businesses in Lancaster and especially the BLVD?

    1. The nicest thing about the future is . . .that it always starts tomorrow.

    2. Seat belts are not as confining .. . .as wheelchairs.

    3. How come it takes so little time for a child who is afraid of the dark . …to become a teenager who wants to stay out all night?

    4. No one has more driving ambition than the teenage boy (or girl) . . ..who wants to buy a car.

    5. There are worse things than getting a call for a wrong number at 4 am……….like, it could be the right number.

    6. The trouble with bucket seats is that . . .not everybody has the same size bucket.

Regarding assemblyman Steve Foxs account of his “achievements” and “progress” this last year……. maria writes…..Like the rest of the cronies on the city council, the school board, the police departments, social services, juvenile ( youth) organizers, unions, medical workers, business owners, and the so-called ” professionals” you take credit for employing you are all nothing more than a disgusting network of MANIPULATERs , liars and thieves. HOW DARE YOU pretend that ANYTHING you do or are doing has / is in effort to truly help any of the CITIZENS who live here. The only people you benefit are those who are in cahoots to help line yours and their pockets and bank accounts with OUR MONEY. I fully intend to address every issue you have outlined here including the redevelopment money scam, your fake ” local” enterprise zone, the real purpose for drone testing and who gets ” targeted” ( see articles on traffic accidents ), how our water was “stolen” ( much like our other utilities and resources ) , the political ,financial and intellectual scam involving our schools and universities, the HOUSING SCAM and it’s true purpose ( to own and control people’s possessions and lives) and the latest issue involving assault, battery and shut down ( more like ” shut up” ) these ” athletes”? ( is that what your calling me? Huh funny ) who would be a threat to putting an end to your “game” . Well believe me it’s not over. To all of you out there who have been affected and hurt financially, mentally, physically and emotionally by these liars and thieves I will not give up and will find a way to reveal the information and the TRUTH behind all this fraud and deception that has destroyed the lives of so many good and honest people. PLEASE those of you who have been hurt/ affected by these or any other issues, post your story/ experience either here or to the paper or at council meetings…( am sorry I was not at the last one as I was attacked several days before in my home )..I know how hard they can make it to do that BELIEVE ME, but this situation will only get worse ( and very soon ) unless more people come forward and put a stop to this deceit.   10. Nelson Mandela, can’t anyone tell me if he really was a hero to his country and Why? What did he preach?

    • Just look into his history and what he stood for. He was a Communist that formed the military wing of the ANC and committed terrorist acts. Look up necklacing, he was a fond believer in that. The entire reason he was in prison was he plead guilty to 156 counts of public violence and acts of terrorism. He refused release from prison because he wouldnt renounce the violence by the ANC. He might be a hero to certain portions of his country but theres many others that would say he is nowhere close to a hero.

  11. Has there been any updates on the 2 men who kicked in the front door of 2 Lancaster homes and said they were police officers. Last time I heard the police were still looking for them…Hopefully a alert resident will spot them and help out the police once more :).
    Need to get them off the streets if they aren’t already!!

        Funny how you didn’t respond directly to the power plant issue and what the CEC’s final decision said and had to go off on a tangent which you were wrong about in the first place.

        • Rex is more worried that an electricity plant he thinks will send Bangladesh underwater than he is about his own city that has skyrocketing unemployment. I love Bangladesh too but its not going underwater and no electricity plant or campfire or whatever burns is going to send Bangladesh underwater. Even the birds make more sense and they make no sense at all.

          • Poor Wrecks. Poor, poor Wrecks. While he’s messing with Palmdale another restaurant on the BLVD closed this weekend. Sad.

            There are so many empty store fronts on the ‘heart of Valley’ BLVD, it makes ya wonder if Wrecks has to see an eye doctor to know what’s going on. I’m guessing by the time all his solar farms are built a new technology with make them obsolete such as the Bloom Box.

            It was reported he wasn’t at the Christmas Parade Saturday. He’s been laying low lately while Crist does the dirty work trashing the power plant with his fantasy complaints unsupported by any facts according to the CEC.

            It great not see have to see or hear Wrecks as often but I hope he’s not up to some other shady activities. You never know with him. He’s desperate. The birthing center fell through. BYD is under investigation. If the judge’s decision is overturned in the Palmdale election lawsuit and the AVAQMD approves the power plant, Wrecks may as well pack up and leave town.

I thought it was fishy seeing a “special” board meeting on the day before the district shut down for the holiday….. and seeing TWO Radford’s getting a nice promotion makes you scratch your head even more…. please tell me it is just by chance they have the same last name…. if not, must be nice to get a family wide early Christmas….

    The Board of Trustees approved the following actions during the special Board Meeting held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013…

    1. Appointing Mr. Steve Radford to the position of Regional Director of College/Career Preparation and Adult Education. Effective December 2nd, Mr. Radford will begin transitioning from his role as Principal of Palmdale High School to the role of Regional Director, assuming the responsibilities for establishing and directing a regional consortium for Adult Education within the Antelope Valley Union High School District.

    Mr. Matt Anderson, will be transitioning from his current role as Principal of Antelope Valley High School to Principal of Palmdale High School. Mr. Anderson comes to PHS with proven credentials – successfully leading the effective “Turnaround” Model at AVHS, transforming the students, staff, and school culture through strong, positive leadership.

    2. Appointing Mrs. Jodie Radford to the position of Interim Principal at Antelope Valley High School for the remainder of the 2013-14 school year. Mrs. Radford is currently the Assistant Principal at AVHS and has established excellent rapport with the faculty and staff.

    • The ACA has not ‘flopped.’ The website is simply crappy and in need of reprogramming.

      I am amazed at all the ridiculous assumptions I’ve been reading across the blogosphere that ‘ObamaCare’ has somehow failed simply because of a faulty website initialization. This is like saying that all Mercedes Benz cars are terrible cars and poorly made just because the website might go down and ordering one online isn’t possible temporarily while you can still go to the dealer and get one – just as you can still go to an ACA ‘Navigator’ to do the paperwork and set up while the site is undergoing reprogramming.

      • True it hasn’t flopped…yet. Obama keeps changing the “rules” till after the 2014 election. Why’s that? Does he think the voters will forget about it? Yes, the roll out of Obamacare website has it’s problems but it has also opened a lot of peoples eyes as to what Obamacare is all about. Time will tell if Obamacare will be successful.

      • It hasnt failed just because of a faulty website. Its failed because its a failure. The website is just another part of the failure. It makes me laugh that people gloss over the problems of the website and how they came about. That was a colossal $600M failure thanks to Michelle Obama being friends with a top executive at the company involved. Weird how theres no out cry from the left over the no bid process there.

        This is the same company that got fired from the province of Ontario for failing to build a medical registry website that worked. Three of the four states the same company have built websites for, have had major issues as well.

        For this widespread policy not to be considered a flaming pile of policy crap than you must have have some successes too point to. There are none to demonstrate that faith in ACA is warranted.

        • All the flack now, is people getting cancelled when Obama said “you could keep your policy if you want”. Even though this problem is happening to 5 million people, if you figure that against the total population of 317 million, less then 2% of the country is having this problem. A better comparison could be that if Obama was 2% wrong, doesn’t that make him 98% correct? Oh well, never mind me, let’s all focus on that 2% along with Fox.

What amazes me are people who believe changing healthcare for a nation of over 300 million people was supposed to be easy or mistake free! I do get tired of hearing those who have actively work against the ACA’s success whine about it. Good thing we don’t have you lazy American’s working on anything important, as big change requires a “can do” attitude and a will to work, which you whiners obviously don’t posses! Why not get out of our way as we bring healthcare to those you all have ignored throughout your political careers and lives!

        Americans have short attention spans. They already forgot the shutdown and will forget the website glitches once corrected.

        THEN, it’s back to Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi or birth certificates.

        Darryl Issa is going to investigate, (what a joke he is) the census and the ‘cooked’ unemployment numbers, etc. Then, the GOP will do with those what they’ve doing with ‘voter suppression’, ‘women’s health issues’ and even the ACA. Obstuct, sabotage, and lie, lie, lie.

        BTW. I’m so glad Majority Leader Harry Reid changed the filibuster. The republicans abused it like never before. Now, they are upset and whining. Good! They need to be sent to bed without dinner and grounded for the rest of the year.

            As far as the ACA goes, I was a able to keep coverage for an extra 3 years on my mother’s plan, have no annual limits on the plan, and everything I NEED is covered and cannot be denied. Some JOKE that is, right? Or is it only a JOKE if it doesn’t directly benefit you? Because if that’s the case, then some many of our nation’s laws are a JOKE because I reap nothing from them. Sounds ignorant, yes? You are certainly living in the Fox’s burrough.

      • Everyone knew it wasnt going to be easy or mistake free except those pushing for it. You think maybe if people hadnt been continuously lied to for three years, their attitudes about this might be a little more different? But hey being told your insurance was going to be cheaper only to find out, you have to pay more monthly then on top of that have to pay higher deductibles and out of pocket expenses while getting less is something to be thrilled about huh? Or that if you choose not to have it, you get penalized for it. Really good thing there. The MAJORITY of Americans didnt want this bill then and even more dont want it now because its not what was told to us.

          Surveys have shown that Fox News viewers are among the least informed on current affairs of all the news outlets and even includes Jon Stewart’s Daily Show on Comedy Central.

          Fox won a lawsuit in Florida allowing them to lie and distort when delivering the news under the 1st Amendment. They actually argued for that right and it shows.

          Fox News wasn’t allowed to operate in Canada because they have a law banning dishonest news reporting.

          Now, you don’t like criticism of Fox News. You must be a big fan. A lot of AV conservatives are and they repeat the Fox talking points constantly.

          But, go ahead and watch it. Fox News certainly didn’t help Romney win and it was a hoot watching Karl Rove election night in pure meltdown. Priceless.

          Plus, their boss Rubert Murdoch is in lots of trouble in the UK for a phone hacking scandal and had to shutdown one of his papers.

  19. Apparently, ACA/Obamacare is rolling along quite well in California surpassing milestones.

    Meanwhile, those red states who are fighting it tooth and nail are the same states that receive more in federal aid than they send to Washington in taxes. And, they do the most complaining about the federal government while California is a donor state, sending more than it gets back.

    Oh, well. I’m glad I live in California and not one of those godforsaken red states. I’m not going to spend my life on earth avoiding or complaining about taxes which are high here but it’s worth it.

  22. How about starting with the scjools and the school districts especially Lancaster showing so much ignirance towards families of children who have special needs. When is it ever ok for a principal, a resource teacher, and the school psychologist “professionally” diagnose your child stating that the child doesn’t have autism and it’s just bad behavior and the child needs more discipline at home? Even though the chikd has been diagnosed by multiple professionals since the age of 2! Or how about when they make up stories about your child just to send them home because you as the parent stay at home and can’t get a job because you get phone calls every day because they don’t want to deal with it

    • Camille, you must know that there are LOTS of mothers who are claiming their kids have all this “handicap behavior” just so they can get SSI for the kids and then the kid get SSI for the rest of their lives. Many of that type of problem solved by a good diet of fresh foods, consistent rules and boundaries and a early bedtime in their own bed after a shower or bath. Teachers spend more awake time with kids than most parents do and want your children to succeed.

  23. Crack down hard on everyone who grows it outside the law. Why is okay for some to grow and everyone defends their right, and then a couple of martial arts guys have a couple of plants and everyone freaks out?
    If something is against the law, enforce it equally to all who break that law. If weed is something the government (state, federal and county) is going to regulate, then figure out how it can be taxed and distributed without getting into the hands of children (under 18).

        I realize they “kidnapped” some kid and inflicted pain on him. Maybe someone should ask why they chose him…and why they let him go in the middle of town if they really meant him harm. Story doesn’t make much sense.
        The few plants they were growing shouldn’t have any impact on the other charges.

            Camille brought up special needs, I said what I think about that. There are people with special needs and the legitimate cases should be handled. However, there is so much fraud in the SSI system. Another way for criminals to fraud the government out of a monthly check so they can lay around smoking weed, having babies and going to the track.
            As far as the Martial Arts guys growing a couple of plants, I really don’t think that a big deal.

            I’m not sure how much you actually do know about what’s going on here with this ” Nancy” but let me just say that there have been numerous issues that I have been involved in and commented on where ” nancy” has been DIRECTLY involved in assuring my comments are kept from being disclosed. Ill give you several examples and maybe you’ll get an even clearer picture if you don’t already know. For starters go to the article on ” candidate responds to Palmdale….” And read my comment ( Maria paesano ) significance? It was removed from comment page until THE DAY AFTER THE ELECTION when it was then put back on. I wonder who didnt want that posted huh? Also look at comment under ” Local Realtors and pet adoption ” please read my comment although only a portion of ALL THE FRAUD AND CRIMES that took place there.   24. I would like to know why the intersection of 10th St West and Avenue J-8 has NO left green light signal! This intersection has had numerous accidents and its just feet away from Sunnydale School!

    • And the light at J4 and 10w has a ridiculously short walk time. I am able bodied and have to walk as fast as I can to get across and it’s always on the yellow light as I jump to get on the curb. Disabled people will surely be barely in the middle when the light changes on them.

    • This intersection has a signal and crosswalks. I don’t see how a left turn lane would matter to crosswalk traffic except to add confusion. If there is a problem with school children crossing, a crossing guard is needed, not more lights.

  25. ATTENTION AV SCAM ALERT:
    The other night, my dad and mom pulled up to Vallarta on 20th West and Ave I to get some water from the machine in front of the building. When they returned to their vehicle which is a Ford Expedition, the Truck would not start. Approximately 5 minutes later two Hispanic Males, One was younger in his late twenty’s about six feet in height, slim build and could not speak english, the other guy was about 5’7 and a stocky build and could speak english. They came over and proceeded to say they could fix the problem with the vehicle, and that they had a “computer” to check the problem. My dad proceeded to allow them to check the vehicle with the code reader, because we figured they were good simiratins. Afterward, they tell us it is an “electrical issue” and they can fix it for us, although we do not allow people to touch our vehicles so we kindly denied any more help, said thank you, and continued to try and fix the vechile.
    After calling the tow truck and waiting for about an hour, an individual showed up to get water from the machine in front of vallarta, This man walked over to us and asked us what was wrong with our vehicle, we said we do not know, we got out and when we came back it was no longer working. The man said that the same thing happened to his car a week prior in the same parking lot, and it turns out it was two guys who were walking around disconnecting wiring from underneath vehicles and then approaching the people after to offer to fix the problem they created.

    Needless to say, because of this man who walked up and relayed the information to us we were able to find out that the two Hispanic Males who walked up earlier in the night were actually the ones who disconnected the wiring under the car in the first place and have been doing this to numerous victims, and they charge $100 to “fix” the problem, that is RECONNECT THE WIRE THAT THEY DISCONNECTED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

    Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Blew off the report and gave us an “incident report” because they said this was not a crime, needless to say this is going on and hopefully no one else will become a victim of these scam artists, and if you are a victim call the Sheriffs and hopefully they will actually do something for you… Sadly even tho these guy were caught on camera the sheriffs will not be doing anything for us.

      • For about $40, you can get a cheap dashcam on ebay. You will need a separate memory chip if you want a more useful video length, but crooks don’t like to loiter in their presence.

      • There is no such thing as “Lancaster Sheriffs”. It’s LA County Sheriff, and Rex or Ledford has little control over what LA County Sheriffs do. Take it up with Lee Baca.

Richards: Although you are correct that the name on the cars says LA County Sheriff, they are contracted local police forces for each of the cities in the AV, even having city seals on the sides of many of the units patrolling, making the differentiation appropriate. As such, the Client Cities have a significant say over how their cities are to be patrolled. In Lancaster, however, Wrecks has exhibited far more influence than even a client should have and has coopted the integrity of the local station, making it less Baca’s and more his own personal gestapo… Something Ledford would never do, I might add.

      • Tampering with a motor vehicle is a crime. The scam is a crime. Of course your $ million Spy-in-da-sky failed to see it.

        But the big question is; why would anybody in heir right mind: A: get out of their car? B: car unattended in Lancaster (Rexville)? Are you nuts?

    • By your description the Sheriffs would have to investigate every pair of Hispanics in town. The cops don’t have time to do an in-depth investigation of stuff like this, they are busy dealing with domestic violence, robberies, auto theft, assaults, etc. And if your lucky they might have six or seven cars available in the whole city to respond to them.

      • How is it that officers are always busy with other calls when most comments are about non response?
        The cops wouldn’t have to check out every “pair of Hispanics”. They could look at the surveillance video and watch for them or similar behavior. If they did it once, they’ll do it again. Show their pictures at shift change for a few days.
        Along with sensitivity training, a few of our young LASD, need to learn about patience.
        I recently had some guys parked next to me when I came out of Costco. I think they stuffed some plastic under my “low rider”. I noticed the smell as I drove across 10th Street, then noticed the same 2 guys in my mirror following me. Maybe thought I would need help. I drove about 7 miles, through intersections, around corners, through parking lots and they followed behind me. I drove to the tire store, where the guys put it up on the rack and pealed off the plastic melted to the bottom of my exhaust system.

        • You have obviously never had to rely on a “surveillance video” to ID someone, all you get is a grainy picture of two guys with baggy pants, white t-shirts and shaved heads, like I said, every Hispanic gang banger in town. Besides what are the chances a camera is pointed at any random area of a parking lot.

        • If you call them for assault with a deadly weapon or burglary in progress or shots fired I assure you, they’ll show up right away.

I hope everyone knows the Pacific ocean is in a death spiral and not to eat ANYTHING that comes from that ocean, including TUNA & SOCKEYE SALMON, Fukushima has been dumping contaminated water into the Pacific basically ever since the accident, when you consume radiated food, the radiation does not leave your body. If you think cancer is out of control right now, give it another 5 yr., it is about to skyrocket.

    Did you know commercial farmed chicken has been fed arsenic for a very long time, arsenic accumulates over time so chicken has had it in concentrated doses. They are just now finally admitting to this and promising to remove it from the feed but as it turns out, now we are moving a lot of out chicken production to China (much fewer safety regulations) where who knows what will put in it and we can become even more dependent on outside sources for our survival.

Don’t you people realize that to the people down the hill we’re all the same? They’re already looking down on us, no need to add to it by looking down on each other as well.
