LANCASTER – There will be a fundraiser for the family of 12-year-old Katie Davila, the Piute Middle School student killed in a traffic crash on Nov. 30.
The fundraiser will take place from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 16, at the McDonalds located at 1200 West Avenue K in Lancaster. Teachers from the Lancaster School District will be serving food.
Katie was well liked at all the schools she attended in the Lancaster School District. From Sierra Elementary, Katie transferred to Amargosa Creek and then to Piute.
Katie, her mother Abigail Estrella, and family friend Abigail Romero died on Nov. 30, after the van they were riding in hit a concrete wall and rolled over on a connector road between the 110 and 5 freeways.
All money raised from this evening’s fundraiser will be going to the Davila family. There is also a donation box in the front office of Sierra Elementary School (747 W Avenue J-12) for those wishing to donate directly.
For more information, call Sierra Elementary at 661-942-9536.
