PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale will kick off its “Season of Service” program this Saturday, Jan. 25 with a “Desert Reveal” clean up at Avenue S and 70th Street East in Palmdale, as part of the City’s participation in the “National Day of Service” in recognition Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The cleanup will be held from 8:30 am to noon. Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants must complete a Release of Liability (available at www.cityofpalmdale.org or at event registration). Participants are requested to wear closed-toe shoes and be prepared/able to walk over uneven terrain. Participants must also use work gloves and sun protection. Water will be provided. Verification of service hours is available.
“The Season of Service is designed to offer service projects for residents to join, and will include a monthly service day as well as information for community members to develop their own projects,” said Community Programs Supervisor Trish Jones. “This is the first of five activities we have planned for this year.”

Work side by side with City staff and neighbors to install the infrastructure of the new community garden.

Yeah…No Thanks, I did my part for years to clean up the desert and what did it get me a ticket for riding my dirt bike, you see a group called “The Desert Conservartory” they have a office in Quartz Hill right next to the post office, well they collect money from you and I and then they take that money give it to LASD and pay Deputies to write tickets in the desert for riding dirt bikes, not one penny goes to prevent desert dumping, the dirt bikers were the only ones running off the illegal dumpers and now were gone because of the bull[removed] tickets.
