QUARTZ HILL – It’s that time of year again… time for great local food and entertainment, a carnival and a car show, a traditional parade and a pet parade. It’s all happening this weekend at the 65th Almond Blossom Festival!
“It’s a free community event that’s fun for the whole family,” said event director Dennis Bogard.
This year’s event is themed “Let’s go nuts… Almonds that is!”
The festival begins Friday evening, with the Almond Blossom Festival Kickoff Dinner, and continues through the weekend with a full schedule of free entertainment and activities.

I don’t know who came up with this info, but the Nutty Runners is a relatively normal 5k race, not some “colorfully dressed group … running backwards,” just to clarify. Anyone who would like to participate in the 5k can register starting at 7:30 a.m. at Joe Walker School. Registration is $30 for adults, $20 for youth.

For a moment, I thought the ‘Nutty Runners’ referred to a local politcal couple that feeds off the government while accomplishing very little.
