A former Palmdale Sheriff’s deputy was sentenced Friday to nine years in state prison after pleading no contest to rape and bribery charges, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Jose Rigoberto Sanchez, 29, was also ordered to register as a sex offender.
Last month, Sanchez pleaded no contest to one count each of rape under color of authority and soliciting a bribe.
Sanchez was on duty at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station on Sept. 22, 2010 when he pulled over a 24-year-old female driver who had an outstanding warrant.
Sanchez offered not to arrest the woman if she had sex with him, said Deputy District Attorney Rosa Alarcon. He then drove away with the victim into the desert where he raped her, the prosecutor said.
Two nights later, deputy Sanchez pulled over a 36-year-old woman for investigation of DUI and solicited a bribe in the form of sexual activity.
The case was investigated by the Sheriff’s Department’s Internal Criminal Investigations Bureau.

9 years in prison for a cop guilty of rape. Let me guess. He’ll do his time at Califonia Men’s Colony in San Luis Obisbo with all the other high profile rapists and killers and child molesters where no one can get to him to beat him down. I think they should throw his ass up in Pelican Bay or in Corcoran on a 4 yard and let the inmates deal with him.
