The Lancaster Municipal Election takes place Tuesday, April 8, with polling locations opening at 7 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m. For more information regarding the City’s upcoming election, contact the Lancaster City Clerk Department at 661-723-6020.

  1. It’s 4:45 PM. Has Rex called the election yet? What is taking him so long?

    The polls close at 8. He better hurry. We don’t want those voters who are getting home late from work to have their ballots counted, do we?

  2. MY comment is awaiting moderation again simply because I stated that I believe Michael Reeves is a trustworthy and honest candidate and that I would be voting for him? And probably like the fifth or sixth even 7 th time I’ve tried to post. Also no one will post questions I have about Mr Ervin’s connection and support of Sumac Productions. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT THIS ELECTION IS FIXED!!!!

    • There are levels of corruption involved with politics that are unavoidable. However, I’m having a hard time seeing what issue is coming out of a candidate being associated with a wedding planner?

    I believe Mr. Reeves is the one candidate who has all the qualities that we all should be looking for in a city council representative. He does t have a secret or personal age da or isn’t paid to do the bidding or speaking for someone else pulling his strings. His thoughts a d ideas on issues are logical and considerate of the people and important for safety and preservation of this town….. Oops city. He is also APPROACHABLE which is extremely important considering the way many other members or candidates wont even speak with you on issues of concer.Everyone complains about all the other candidates and the crap they pull but no one acknowledges or gives credit when someone is trustworthy and honest. MICHAEL REEVES YOU HAVE MY VOTE

        • Don’t call me Shirley! …and for God’s sake how can you cast a vote correctly if you don’t know the correct spelling of your candidates name?

          • This is America. They elected George Bush twice and spelled his name correctly. They also elected Rex, Marv, Ron and the rest of the GOB, spelling their names correctly, I guess.

            Poor Michael Rives. I’m sure he’s earnest and puts in a lot of time and energy in at the council meetings but as of the first results, he’s coming in last.

            Usually, name recognition counts for something but he’s behind others who I’ve never heard of before.

            If Jonathan Ervin loses, I guess Lancaster has to hit bottom before they turn things around, kinda like an alcoholic.

  4. Low turn out or too early in the morning? When I took my mother to vote this morning, we were the first people at our polling precinct (J & Fern), arriving at 07:30. I’m generally an early bird when it comes to voting around 07:30, but I’m usually in the 15-30th voter to show range, not the 1st.

    Ya’ll might be happy to know, I verified the ballot box wasn’t stuffed beforehand. Benefit of being the first to show!

    • Hopefully, there will be people keeping an eye on the ballot boxes at the end of the day to see where they go and who goes with them there.

  5. THERE IS NOTHING THAT WOULD PLEASE ME MORE BUT UNFORTUNATELY EVERY COMMENT OR POST I HAVE WRITTEN IN THE PAST WEEK HAS BEEN EITHER MONITORED AND NEVER OFFICIALLY POSTED OR COMPLETELY DELETED. THIS ELECTION IS A TOTAL SHAM, FULL OF LIES, DECEPTION AND DECEIT! I URGE THE MAYOR AND ALL CITIZENS WHO VALUE THE IMPORTANCE OF HONESTY AND TRUTH TO DEMAND THIS ELECTION BE POSTPONED UNTIL THE TRAITORS OF OUR BELOVED COUNTRY ARE DISCOVERED, REQUIRED TO ANSWER FOR THEIR CRIMES, AND PUNISHED AND/OR EXPELLED FROM THEIR POSITION OR AS RESIDENCE OF THIS LAND OR CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY.

    TOMORROW, OUR ESTEEMED MAYOR IS EXPECTING WE THE PEOPLE TO SIT OUT THE ELECTION. HE AND HIS YES MEN MARVIN CRIST AND RON SMITH IGNORED OUR PLEA TO HOLD OUR ELECTIONS ON ELECTION DAY – IMAGINE THAT!- AND HAVE CONTINUED THE BIZARRE PROCESS OF HAVING ELECTIONS IN APRIL AND HAVING NO OUTSIDE AGENCY OVERSEE.

    SO, WE THE PEOPLE NEED TO RISE UP AND UNITE AND GET OFF OUR COUCHES AND OUT TO THE POLLS. WE THE PEOPLE NEED TO ASK OURSELVES WHAT DO WE REALLY WANT.

    DO WE WANT A CITY COUNCIL THAT SPENDS $90 GRAND A MONTH ON THE EYE IN THE SKY SPY PLANE THAT DOES ABSOLUTELY ZILCH?

    DO WE WANT A WALMART CRAMMED UP OUR BUTTS OVER BY QUARTZ HILL HIGH?

    DO WE WANT TO HAVE A MAYOR WHO SUES LOCAL BUSINESSES, CITIES, AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS, AND A CITY COUNCIL THAT IS TO AFRAID TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST IT?

    DO WE WANT TO SEE ALL OF OUR CITY’S ATTENTION AND FOCUS SOLELY ON THE BLVD TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE REST OF OUR CITY?

    DO WE WANT A MAYOR AND COUNCIL WHO MAKES OUTRAGEOUS STATEMENTS ABOUT SECTION 8 THAT BRING THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TO OUR DOORSTEP AND SLAP US WITH A LAWSUIT?

    DO WE WANT TO HAVE MORE NEPOTISM WITH FAMILY MEMBERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL BEING GIVEN POSITIONS ON COMMISSIONS?

    DO WE WANT A MAYOR WHO GETS IN ALTERCATIONS WITH RESIDENTS AT THE LOCAL GYM

    DO WE WANT A MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL WHO PROCLAIM THEY ARE BUILDING A CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY TO THE EXCLUSION OF OTHER FAITHS, THOSE OF NO FAITH, AND THOSE NOT A PART OF THE MAYOR’S CHURCH?

    DO WE WANT A MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL WHO TRY TO STOP JOB CREATION BY OPPOSING A POWER PLANT THAT RECEIVED APPROVAL FROM THE EPA?

    DO WE WANT A MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL WHO WISH TO BRING BIRTH TOURISM TO OUR HOSPITAL, SELLING U.S. CITIZENSHIP?

    DO WE WANT A MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL THAT TREATS PEOPLE RUDELY AND WITH CONTEMPT IF THEY SHOW UP AT A MEETING AND DISAGREE WITH THEM?

    DO WE WANT A MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL WHO SPEND CITY DOLLARS FOR PROJECTS SUCH AS A CULVERT ON PROPERTY OWNED BY FRANK VISCO AND JIM GILLEY?

  9. Time to change the election date again and have the city clerk work her mojo with them absentee ballots. Where’s Raymond P. when poor chinless Ron and Starvin Marvin need him.

    • I guess ‘chinless’ heard the comments and grew a beard. I wonder how chinless Rex is under that dead squirrel he wears.

  10. John Ervin and Jordan Campbell. The kid is probably a wasted vote, but I see potential in him. Maybe others will too. One can always hope…

    • I get that the kid is a ‘wasted vote’ but anyone would be better than Crist or Smith, if all they did was crack the Rex fortress on Fern.

      ‘Fortress on Fern’ I like that. From his gated community, to his Fortress, wearing his bullet-proof vest in his armored car and his thick skull.

    • I went to high school with that “kid”. He was probably one of the brightest students at that school. He discussed ideas with me that actually made since, not like any of these other politicians. In my mind he is probably one of the best to vote for and the fact he’s young!
