LANCASTER – A local community queen has organized a fundraiser to support Daisy’s Costumes, the longtime BLVD business destroyed by flames last week.
Cassie King, Miss Eastside 2014, has organized a fundraiser, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, May 17 at Greenhouse Café, located at 1169 Commerce Center in Lancaster.
Present this flyer to the cashier, and a portion of your bill will be donated to help restore Daisy’s Costumes, according to King.
“I, as a child, would go to Daisy’s for costumes that I didn’t think were possible, but Mrs. April would always make one of her homemade costumes and take my breath away,” King said. “That’s why it was so heartbreaking to hear that it caught on fire, and I was personally called to do something.”
“To me community means family, so come support Daisy’s Costumes,” King continued.

Of the 9,000 costumes in the business, about 85% were consumed, melted by the heat, or smoke damaged beyond repair. Damages to the building’s contents are estimated at over $850,000.
An online fundraiser has already raised more than $5,500. To donate to this effort, visit http://www.gofundme.com/daisyscostumes.
