PALMDALE – A 25-year-old Palmdale woman was killed early Thursday morning when the car she was riding in swerved off the road and rear-ended a parked big rig, authorities said.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was a passenger in a 2013 Honda that crashed into the back of a semi-trailer truck around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1, on Palmdale Boulevard, west of 40th Street East, according to Detective Brent Bunch of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.
The Honda’s driver, 19-year-old Palmdale resident Michael Lee, was seriously injured with a broken right leg and internal injuries, Bunch stated.
Lee was driving eastbound on Palmdale Boulevard, approaching the intersection of 40th Street East, when “he veered off the road way and collided into the rear of a semi-truck and trailer parked legally on the south dirt shoulder of Palmdale Boulevard,” Bunch stated.
The semi-truck was unoccupied at the time of the collision.
Palmdale Boulevard was closed to routine traffic between 30th and 40th Street East, until approximately 8 a.m. Thursday morning, while the incident was being investigated.
The fatal collision remains under investigation by the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station traffic detail.

What god? Do you think that these kids that just lost their MOTHER “thank god”? Keep your religion to yourselves.
Darren says
I do not believe that truck was legally parked!! I live near there and the corner of 40th Street and Palmdale Blvd is a private property. This truck would often pull over on this lot, right near the intersection, and park there for days on his down time. That field is not for truck parking. Trucks are supposed to park in designated truck parking lots. This truck would often block the view of on-coming traffic, creating a blind intersection. That intersection is very dangerous and there’s a fatality there every few months. I believe the truck driver and his company are partially liable for this senseless death. The truck driver is saving a few bucks by pulling his truck over on the side instead of paying. He should be ticketed and cited and taken to court!

I’ve seen so many accidents.. they happen so quick it is amazing,, if this person was or wasn’t drunk driving is something he will have to live with the rest of his life.. either way whoever his passenger was (family member, friend,) is death.. don’t wish that on anyone good or bad person.. only god can and should judge him…prayer to their families…
who cares says
There’s a vodka bottle on the ground behind the back tire.
luis says
The vodka bottle is a circumstantial piece of evidence whereby we can reason that alcohol may have been involved. The probability that the driver of this vehicle maneuvered his vehicle around the bottle as he travelled the road is very unlikely. Or are we to believe that the vodka bottle so close in proximity to a vehicle involved in an act of vehicular homicidal negligence is simply a coincidence? When you rear-end a vehicle it is simply negligence. In law we call that res ipsa loquitur (Latin for “the thing itself speaks”). Hence, it is reasonable to consider that alcohol may very likely have been involved. I predict that the driver will be charged with vehicular manslaughter.
CommonSenseIsnt says
Which indicates…. absolutely (no pun intended) nothing. If that is indeed a vodka bottle it is too grainy to see if the lid is intact or had been opened. It is too grainy to see the level of liquid inside.
I guess vodka bottles just magically appear in people’s homes without being transported closed and away from the driver in the rear seat. Which in a violent collision would send it in any number of directions.
But as I said before, that picture is small and grainy, no idea what that is near the rear tire on the ground.
Mamagirl says
How do you know the driver was drunk, I do not recall reading that in the story
Shawnee says
Whenever an accident like this happens, it’s inevitable that people will come here and act like they know what happened, even if the facts are not in the actual story.
Steph says
There is no indication that he was drunk driving. Stop assuming, it make you look like an ass. if he was drunk driving it would have said that and/or that he was detained for further investigation. Why don’t you keep your remarks to your self until the full story is published. If it’s not, move on. No need to post such negative things when the ladies family/friends will probably be reading this.
Frank says
This death is so senseless, what a trajedy..!
Geez says
Breaks my heart when I read stories like this.
Joseph says
He was drunk…no sympathy.
Minty says
Joseph…You’re cold. At least have sympathy for the family and ones that loved this person. If u don’t then just shut up! if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all.
My sympathy goes out to the family. May God give you strength to get through this tough time.
jd1957 says
It didn’t say anything about alcohol bEing involved. Don’t just assume.
bird says
joseph— I’ve lived long enough to know there will always be people like you that like to speak with venom. I know you are a miserable person that tries at every turn to speak hate and tear down instead of lifting up.
minty says
Exactly. I agree, Bird. Sad life. Miserable person. People like Joseph just craving attention, negative attention. Immature.
destanie says
So he was drunk no sympathy huh I hope if u are ever in a similar situation no one replys the way u did… Hopefully u won’t be tested on your cruelty!!! What goes around comes around!!!
AV Folk says
Joseph… In my younger years I drove drunk and am lucky, but also mindful of my own past stupidity before getting too righteous, especially in a single vehicle wreck.
