LANCASTER – A 40-year-old woman was arrested for drunk driving late Wednesday night after she allegedly ran a red light and collided with an off-duty deputy’s car in a Lancaster intersection, authorities said.
Crystal Lawanda Wells, whose blood alcohol content tested at more than twice the legal limit, is being held on $100,000 bail, according to a press release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station. Read it below:
An off-duty deputy was driving eastbound on Avenue K when his car was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Challenger Way.
Both drivers were transported to a local area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The other driver was identified as suspect Crystal Wells.
Preliminary information indicated she was driving against a red light and had a blood alcohol content of .19.
After being released from the hospital, suspect Wells was transported to the Lancaster Station Jail and charged with felony driving under the influence.
She is held on $100,000 bail.
The off-duty deputy’s name was not released, however, sheriff’s officials said that he is assigned to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lancaster Station.

I am surprised there is not more of this. I have a neighbor who has parties at least twice a month outside, drinking, loud music. I have complained and the Sheriffs Department mostly says they are busy and will try to get out there. When these parties break up every person driving away is loaded beyond belief. They should respond a set up a stop point and take 15 to 20 drunks off the road.

Enough accidents happened w/out drunk driving that is is unbelievable that people still drive drunk. Lives changed always. Disgusting.

When was the last time a major car accident was caused by somebody who was driving high on Marijuana. Lets make beer, wine, and other deadly spirits illegal and legalize marijuana instead.
just being real says
That’s right !! Alcohol kills so many people.
Anon says
We did make alcohol illegal; the prohibition in 1920-1933. See how well that lasted?
AVer says
So you are saying that Marijuana doesn’t impair a driver at all??
Just Saying says
Marijuana generally makes you NOT want to drive.
Irean says
