PALMDALE- After interviewing qualified candidates in a special board meeting on Friday, May 30, the Palmdale School District Board of Trustees welcomed Dennis Trujillo as their newest board member.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the District,“ said Trujillo. “I’ve seen some great things happening here since November and I’m excited to be a part of this positive change.”
Trujillo, an electrician for the Palmdale Water District, was selected from the eight qualified candidates who applied to fill the position vacated by former Board President Maria Molina. Molina retired in May to seek a teaching position in the district.
“We’re very excited to welcome Trujillo to the board. Out of a field of well qualified candidates Trujillo most exemplified what a Palmdale School District board member should be,” said Board President Nancy Smith. “I look forward to serving together and continuing the positive momentum we have built here in the Palmdale School District.”
Trujillo, who has been attending Palmdale School District Board meetings for the last three years, began his service upon installation at the end of Friday’s meeting. The newly filled position’s term will end in November 2015 at which point Trujillo can run for election to remain on the board.
The other qualified candidates who applied for the position are Albert Becerril, Stacy Fournier, Patrick Kossow, Charles McElfresh, Jeffrey Moffat, VaJezatha Payne-Hines, and Don Wilson.
