Guns and drugs seized in Palmdale raid, felon arrested

PALMDALE – A 38-year-old convicted felon was arrested Friday, after teams of deputies raided a Palmdale home and found several guns, marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

Matthew Payne was booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sales, according to a press release from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station. Read it below:

On Friday, June 20th at approximately 5:45 pm, the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s “Operation Safe Streets” (OSS) teams from Palmdale and Lancaster executed a search warrant on the 3400 Block of Tamarisk Dr., in the city of Palmdale, resulting in one arrest.

The search warrant deemed very successful when OSS Deputies recovered several guns which included:

• .22 Semi-automatic Rifle
• Disassembled AR-15
• Pistol-Revolver
• Rifle

Furthermore, OSS Deputies recovered marijuana plants as well as narcotic paraphernalia and other miscellaneous items related to the search warrant.

The suspect arrested at the location was convicted felon, 38-year-old Palmdale resident Matthew Payne.

Suspect Payne was transported and booked at the Palmdale Sheriff Station. Payne was booked on charges of felon in possession of a firearm with a bail amount of $35,000; cultivation of marijuana with a bail amount of $30,000; and possession of marijuana for sales with a bail amount of $25,000.

Suspect Payne is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, June 24th at the Antelope Valley Court House.
