LANCASTER – A man died while being detained by Lancaster Sheriff’s deputies early Saturday morning, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 4:15 a.m. in the 40500 block of 163rd Street East, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau. Read it below:
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives responded to the 40500 block of 163rd Street East, Lancaster to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man.
Detectives have learned that Lancaster Station deputies responded to a disturbing the peace call for service on the 40500 block of 163rd Street East, Lancaster on [Saturday] June 28, 2014 at approximately 4:15 a.m.
When deputies arrived, they contacted a male white adult who had been running water from the residence garden hose and yelling at the residents who were inside the house.
When deputies attempted to detain the man for a possible under the influence investigation, the man began resisting the deputies who were making efforts to handcuff him. After a brief struggle, the man was eventually handcuffed and placed in the back seat of a patrol vehicle where he continued his behavior and attempted to kick out windows of the patrol car.
While in the vehicle, the deputies noticed the man had become unresponsive.
The deputies summoned paramedics to the scene. While paramedics were responding, the handcuffs were removed and the deputies began to administer C.P.R.
When paramedics arrived, they pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The identity of the man has yet to be determined.
There is no additional information at this time.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Richard Flick Shryne of Lake Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
Shryne’s cause of death is “deferred,” pending a toxicology report and other tests, which could take up to six weeks, according to Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

All these people saying how the cops killed this guy is funny, maybe it was this guys time to go and he died. Was he high on meth? The heart give out? Evidently he was an ahole, the cops don’t just take people into custody for no reason, you reap what you sew.

Boy all of you idiots that walk around with loaded weapons that you call mouths what a disgrace you are especially you creeps that call yourself men, justs for the sake of the worthless “scumbag” that has been so blessed by your opinion.. call your mothers and ask her what her opinion is about the “scumbag” that went to work everyday to come home and be a single father to his children EVERY SINGLE DAY of their life. Instead of walking out like 90% of you so called men do.. and your fathers did to you. Be ready for your mother to give you a little reality check when she tells you how she wished your father was nearly a fraction of the scumbag be was. Go to any dcfs office and ask a child that wishes for a “scumbag” like that in their life.. those boys are the MEN of our future to them he was a hero and they called him dad and they will be the kind of men you would hope to be blessed with for your daughters.. I cant believe what a bunch of pukes are gonna disrepect the only positive thing his children had in their lives he was a hero to them every day they depended on him and he came through for them… instead of a coward sperm donor that walks out on the lives they created . “Scumbag” how many of you tuck your children in at night ? How many of you had a scumbag of your own that tucked you in at night ? just because your mom called you son far from makes you men that merely makes you male just because you can plant a seed doesnt make you a father just a gardener.. all of you males that didnt have a scumbag in your life will never know the difference between being a man and your mothers son.. how many of you with single mothers were potty trained standing up 00000 you were potty trained by your mother she sits down so did you.. how many males that were raised by a single mother without a scumbag in your life are single fathers or even fathers at all to their children ? aaaaw not to many because your mother was your strength and the apple unfortunately never falls too far from the tree.. the sad truth is its pretty impossible for you to ever be anything but your mothers son.. and when you leave your mommys nest you will find the next strength in your life which will become your wife or girlfriend and sad but true she will always be your strength and your set of balls because thats just the way it is. a single father couldnt raise a beauty queen he could raise a daughter that climbs trees and is an awesome mechanic with more heart than any of you could handle but never a beauty queen she needs her mother for that and for a boy to be a man he would need to have a man “scumbag” in their lives . What a bunch of ignorant disrespectful idiots you are when those boys are more men now than you will ever know already. I truly hope that you judgement passing cowards that have daughters will have scumbags as fathers for your grandchildren that carry on your name.. instead of attachments that your daughters mother into cowards.. heres a thought use a condom or hey maybe you should break the cycle and just jack off instead. Im so proud that my children and myself have one of those “scumbags” in our lives my boys stand up when they pee they learned it from their dad… he waters the lawn whenever he f÷@:&en feels like it .. look at how many uniformed males it took to restrain a single MAN and quickly handcuff and confine him to the backseat of their car and stood their like littlegirls scared as he was kicking out the windows praying that he would stop being a scumbag and subdue. They noticed he became unresponsive through the window finally removed the handcuffs when the paramedics got there .. hahaha hey bitches that scumbag is a REAL MAN and those boys are instilled with the same.. they will be the ones that whoop your ass when they turn 15 as your running your soup coolers about that scumbag that they were lucky enough to call dad . Hey like I said ask your mommy or the mother of your offspring …. just one more little drop of mental awareness how many of you work on your own car when it breaks as opposed to take it to a shop where a man works on it for you that must be a bummer.. my dad taught me his daughter how to change my own tire put oil and tranny fluid in my car .. so that his daughter will never be stranded on the side of the road with a flat waiting on a man, as my mother taught me how to cook for a man and his boys I LOVE ME A SCUMBAG !!!!! You better hope your wife never gets tired of being your mommy and wants a man in her life and she takes her balls with her.. what a perfect world it would be for single mothers to find a scumbag to raise her sons to be men maybe there will be some hope for you to stand up to pee as grown men…. you men are trully a disgrace..aaaw lost another scumbag.. aaaw lost another little bit of hope your daughter will be married to a viking that you lame asses call a scumbag., its pretty obvious that he was a pretty scaary scumbag..Aa man and his deadly hose.. thats all I have to say to you coward bitches that get a thrill out of disrespecting ricks sons does that make you feel good to cause more pain to those heart broken boys.. ,, think about that scarry hose bearing scumbag when your beautiful daughter ” daddys little girl” comes home crying because she doesnt want to share her bras and panties anymore with the father of her sons.. listen for a knock at the door her name is karma get to know her its your daddy ….

I feel sorry for all you folks who have nothing better to do than point your fingers at everybody else except for yourself. Just remember when you point your finger you have three more pointing back at you. Ricky was my Son-In-Law. I loved him and so did my daugher and my grandson. I too have a son his age. I cannot imagine losing a child. My heart breaks for his mother, the three children who are without their mother or father now and will be left to grow up without them in their lives. My heart breaks for my own Grandson, Ricky Flick Shryne III who will grow up without his father being present in his life. He just turned 12 years old this week. This is a crucial age for a boy to lose his father. Ricky Sr. II was a good man with a heart of gold. My entire family loved him and we will all miss him. I pray for those of you who know not what you say, may God forgive your unlearned hearts.
Ric says
Hi, Laney. I’ve just learned of what happened. My prayers go out to all the family. I would like to get in contact with the family. Richard was my half brother. We never met. His Father, was my father also. I hope there is someway I can get in contact with the family.

I knew Ricky, he worked with my father for a lot of years. He was always such a sweetheart. Him and I became good friends while working on one of my fathers cars. For people to say such cold cruel things about a man whose life ended too soon is heartless and I hope you never have to feel his families pain. Rest In Paradise Ricky, you are pin striping in the sky now.

“Deferred” until it blows over and people begin to forget and they can cover their azzes and make excuses, as usual, per the Antelope Valley. The LACO Sheriff’sDepartment Internal Affairs Bureau # is 1-(800) 698-8255. Report ’em for anything and everything. The next time some off-duty cop is kicking it at the bar getting drunk, report them. Call CHP and report their license plate # and report them to Internal Affairs also. A little taste of their own medicine is a good thing. No 2 tiered justice system allowed.

They say knowledge is power…Thank You for the “power”. I could not agree more with your comment…well said.
Nancy P says
Sounds great until someone at one of those offices “leaks” your name. Then, game on. You will have a hard time proving cops are targeting you for calling in a anonymous tip. They start going to the wrong house (yours) when they are looking for criminal activity or parolees. The long response time becomes “non response” time. Good Luck with that.
Myob says
And that is why pay phones exist. Problem solved.
Nancy P says
I thought pay phones were for making drug deals or for people to pee, spit and barf on
chris says
There’s only two times you should call the cops:
#1. When your vehicle is stolen
#2. If your family is in immediate danger ( only because California sucks a.k.a gun control)
Jason says
Do you really think Internal Affairs will do anything about a deputy at a bar?
Say no the the AV says
They should do something about it if their stated job title is to investigate officer wrongdoing. Why does Joe Citizen have his life ruined for some punk azz low BAC garbage, while the cops sit at the bar doing the same damn thing? Is it because it’s really just about creating revenue and propping up arrest statistics? Internal Affairs is just one way of pushing back against these douches, the effective method is call CHP on their hypocrite crooked azzes.
Jason says
So its wrong for a deputy to be at a bar? Didnt realize deputies lost their rights to a social life, guess you learn something every day. I hate to tell you this but its not illegal for them to be in a bar and IA would do nothing about it until they did something illegal. Besides how do you which person drinking at the bar is a deputy?
Say no the the AV says
Come on man. Do I really have the explain this concept to you? You know they are cops because you know they are cops-as in you have seen them on patrol. So, why does Joe Citizen get his life ruined for having two beers, while Joe Cop sits at the bar getting wasted then driving home? Let me guess. You are a cop, you date cops, you daddy is a cop, or in general you just believe in a two-tiered system of laws?
Jason says
You must have a photographic memory because I sure dont recognize a cop ive seen on patrol once at the bar. And when has Joe public had his life ruined over two beers? Talk about some exageration.
Theres a difference between calling IA over a deputy sitting in the bar drinking, which isnt illegal, and calling CHP if they drive away, which is illegal. See the difference? Is that really hard to understand or do you need it explained again?
Just say no the the AV says
2 quick beers will get the average person to a BAC of .08, and that’ll catch you a nice life destroying DUI even though .08 isn’t even remotely drunk. Oh, and do you need more proof of how to spot off-duty cops? I recently observed an off-duty showing his badge to some women at a bar and remarking how he works as a deputy out of Palmdale station. All this in between shots and beers he was pounding. Is that enough proof for ya?
Eric says
And how exactly is Joe Citizen driving in your example? Cause standing at 6′, about 200lbs, with the kind of conditioned liver one gets from military service, I can down 2 beers and get in the car without any noticeable change. Even if the BAC is up a bit, complete control is still there. How do I know? Cause if it wasn’t, I’d be in a cab. I know cause I’m familiar with my body.
An officer showing his badge at the bar to pick up a bunny is not a crime. Neither is his presence there. Since you are familiar with these deputies and their haunts, did you pass your concerns to their command?
So did that .08 DUI you got really “ruin” your life? Or are you just failing to comply with the terms the court set for your punishment, and as such, you are ruining your life.
William says
“Why does Joe Citizen have his life ruined for some punk azz low BAC garbage,…”
Well, because Joe Citizen has been informed of the law beforehand and the DMV puts those little Blood Alcohol notices in your driver’s license and car registration renewals.
So, you are informed of the law and how much alcohol you can legally consume before driving a car. If you don’t obey the rules and get stopped, you get a DUI.
What could be simpler? It’s like when a sign says ‘Wet Paint’ and you touch it, don’t complain if your finger gets paint on it.
Given that that is so hard for you to understand, the question is “Why are you allowed to drive in the first place?”
Say no the the AV says
Baton polishers are all the same.

Okay. I said my peace on this for now. Let the slanderous haters begin their rampage upon me for my posting…

@trish: I don’t think you know as much as you say you do. You have people telling you what they know and you are taking their word on it. You are bashing people for writing their opinion about what happened and you keep telling them to shut their mouths, but you keep telling what you know to be true when you weren’t there and neither were the people that are telling you what happened. You don’t really know what happened either. Maybe you should shut your mouth. This is a stupid blog and you are making a fool out of yourself. You don’t know any more than anyone else that has commented on here. Get over yourself.

Furthermore I never once bashed the cops. So you off all people should get over yourself.
Sad but true says
Trisha and BT no need to fight. I am sorry for anyone’s loss and Trisha you may know the person better than most on this “blog” but the only real people who know what went down was Richard and maybe the deputes and one of them is no longer on this earth to tell his side of the story. He may have suffered a heart attach for anyone knows. We do not know if there was fowl play with out assuming at this moment, Richard may or may not have known what was playing out in his body or what someone else may have been doing to it. Sadly he is gone and we can only get a truth from what a toxicology and autopsy report will show. Instead of fighting why let us wait to see what results are and save our strength if a real battle is ever at hand.
The 4th Amendment says
18 U.S. Code § 242 – Deprivation of rights under color of law
Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such person being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.
John Q.Public says
If only that were true…

The key here is “and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section” It is not known why the man died while in custody. For all we know he had a heart attack or an overdose or alcohol poisoning.

Regardless of what happened, unless we were there, not one person on this post can tell the true story behind what happened to the man in Lancaster, and just because the news says it to be…does not mean it is true. Let’s be honest with ourselves people, instead of making ourselves out to sound and look like blind fools. We all know that where there is good, lies evil. No company, family, person or place is absolutely “sin-free”, its unfortunate for the mans family “may prayers go out for the healing of there scared hearts”, but more unfortunate that everyone only gathers to tear down and blame instead of attempt to reach a resolution or understanding. Marisa starts this off the worst by saying “One less ghetto man to deal with”, if you did not know this man, your “opinion” is futile, abusive, degrading, and with your lack of care and empathy for his loved ones coming across your “opinion”, tell me, who is really the ghetto one here, him or yourself?. “Do not judge me because my sins are different than yours”, we all know your not a saint, and 100% fact that your not perfect, so when you are giving your “opinion” think of how your “opinion” is a reflection of how you see yourself, and definitely know when you say something, the one your talking to is most likely thinking “how dare this bitch talk about this person when she is so, so, so and so”. Furthermore, we all know that cops can be a bit excessive at time, but until you really do what people like us refuse to do and that’s put lives on the line to protect our society from chaos, then shut the hell up about your opinion of cops, without them (rather good or bad) we are left without protection. Others on here mention drugs, I’m sorry, how do you know he was under the influence… because someone said he was, because he resisted arrest, many people including rich upstanding individuals resist arrest for various almost countless amount of reasons, how about considering other alternatives of why he would have allegedly resisted, he could have just went through a traumatizing event or anything. My neighbor waters his grass at 4:30 am before we leave for work, so as Mama said above something was not right due to the time it was, is something not right with my neighbor? is he on drugs too? y’all are fools to try to distinguish facts from lies in a situation in which you were not involved in, rather the cops did everything right or were the brute cause of this mans death, no one here will take there lazy asses in to the field to investigate, no one here has God’s capability of knowing what happened, but everyone wants to point a finger. Point at yourself and if your not doing anything to help make this world better, then guess what, your only making or allowing things to get worst, so who wrong here, us or them, or everybody. Try putting yourself in the position of a person going thru life knowing cops can do and say what they want to and get away with it (sometimes, they may not) or experience it first hand being struck down, or twisted by our legal system just because, so on so forth, on the other hand, since we don’t have X-ray vision and cannot read minds, think of being a cop, you go into mostly all situations blind knowing that anything can happen and if you can think of it, chances are a cop somewhere has had it happen to them, tell me not knowing what a person will or will not do, have or have not done, will you go at them calm, cool, collective and relaxed or will you take the actions needed to preserve your own life and innocent peoples lives while taking on that situation. Unless a cop is in this forum, not one of you can answer how situations could be handled, rather good or bad, overall thing is it’s unfortunate the man passed away in the back of a police car rather then with the ones that loved him, if it “was” his fault, that’s what his ass gets, if it was the cops fault, we can only “hope” justice prevails.
By the way Ric you are right by saying, if the cops didn’t come and the man killed someone then Trish would probably be criticizing them for not responding at all. No matter what, when things involving cops go wrong, the cops are going to be criticized for over-reacting or not reacting fast enough if at all.
Trisha says
For the most part I agree 100% with your reply. I am really glad that you put that I would probably be criticizing them for not responding at all. However probably I would not. The only reason I am even replying to this is because he is family. He is someones son, someones husband (my sisters), someones brother, and someones father (my nephew). The whole point to all my comments is that this story was not 100% accurate. I never said that the cops did anything to hurt him. I never said he was in the right and the cops were in the wrong. I did say that I thought they should have realized when he fell to the ground that something was wrong instead of dragging his body to the car they could have seen why he fell to the ground. No I am not a law officer but I am a Nurse and its just the nurse in me saying common sense would be to check. However that’s just my nursing judgement.
I am also a huge fan of law enforcement. I have never been on drugs, convicted or drugs/alcohol and have never gotten into any trouble with the law aside from a ticket. So please don’t assume I am some cop hater or some thug off the streets.
RIP Rickie you will forever be in our hearts.

You are so rude u dont even know the situation and your judging him..
John Q. Public says
AND he saved us taxpayers the cost of having to pay for his trial.
Helena says
You are cold-hearted and ignorant, I feel sorry for you. Rickie was a much better man than you can ever be.
trisha says
Helena I feel like I know you! Like you know my dad too….
Marissa Eddy says
My mom grew up with that person so if you don’t know the details or what happened then keep your mouth shut
R.I.P
trisha says
Thank you!
John Q. Public says
So drugs had nothing to do with the fact that he was being loud enough at TWO in the morning to force someone to call the police? That sounds believable.
sandra says
Well if that turns out to be the case here you will feel good about it and give yourself an atta boy and of course throw in some type of ugliness. And everyone that knew him will say thats a shame, its too bad anyone that knew him didnt hear or notice he wasnt happy .. either way its a loss to anyone that knew him .. but we all know the real him and can blame it on drugs.. but whats your excuse for being the pos that you are ? Oh it comes natural OUCH that really bites.. alot of times people that suffer from what you have is something from childhood maybe mommy should have hugged you more ? Its too bad the people in your life didnt hear you or care enough to remove all the mysery and bitterness that rents space in your soul.. think of the oxygen you take from people that dont pollute the planet, there are times when a miracle touches misery like yours maybe some spirituality who knows . Boy look at all the money you save the tax payers.. usually all that nasty ugliness eats itself away , no trials funerals or newspaper articles .. you get what you give im sure no one will even notice another septic soul gone Aaaw thats too bad.. wait what was his name again ??? I feel really bad for people like you just plain ignorant of our real purpose on this planet… good luck ugly ….
Lexi says
He was a sick and single father of 4, this doesn’t explain the full situation, so please keep your rudeness to a minimum or just shut up. He wasn’t a tweaker, he was ill. Stereotypes in this town, I swear.
trisha says
Agreed! Some people just don’t care though. :(
Helena says
I assume you did not know Rickie, or you would not have posted this. I did not know Rickie very well, but what I knew of him, he was a very nice and helpful man. You should not judge him if you did not know him. Anyway, I am assuming he was in his own yard enjoying his freedom of speech, no one should get arrested or die for that.
SE says
This is absolutely horrible. How can you or anyone else say such harsh things and make accusations about a man you don’t know? I’ve known this man for years, he was like an uncle to me. He was always at my house helping my disabled mother and putting a smile on my face. Yes he had his problems and he wasn’t perfect and neither are you! He has made some faults in life and I’m sure you or a family have as well. But he was a great father, son, friend and hard worker, so don’t judge him, or make him a stereotypical drug user. You people sicken me. I hope you can find God and may you never go though a loss like this and have people pass idiotic judgment.
cop says
Can you say white trash, You people are stupid I know its normal for you drug users to water the lawn at 4 am but its not go to bed at 10 am and get some rest so you wont overdose God Bless And have a nice day
binfrmd says
AV Sherrifs department has been investigated and found to violate citizens civil rights. It was in the AV press, but hardly anyone paid attention. Actual findings: http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/2013/June/13-crt-739.html
ric says
I can’t wait for a follow up to the laughable DOJ findings – It’s ironic too that ever since the DOJ sided with the ‘oppressed’ folk crime has skyrocketed again. It’s cool though. Until one of the oppressed falls victim to a crime committed by a minority. Then the spineless DOJ will type a new letter that states how the cops out here don’t protect minorities. Last year they targeted them, this year they ignore them. Just can’t win in this valley.
AR says
Not just this valley… the entire darned US. Criminals get all the protection, lawful citizens and cops enforcing the law get blamed for everything.
facts, not fiction... says
Ric, please present evidence of this ‘skyrocketing crime’ and the linking causality of such being from the DoJ findings?
John Q. Public says
Looks like we lost another fine, outstanding citizen of the Antelope Valley. One who did meth all night and then decided to resist lawful orders, and was rewarded with a nice case of cardiac arrest. Do some more drugs. Oh wait… you can’t ’cause you’re dead.
trisha says
Funny jokes you got there. Don’t quit your day job! That is if you actually have one!
David says
That’s why we need video and audio cameras on every officer and every vehicle. It might shine a light on this death as well as collecting evidence in general.
Mama says
I would love to see ANY of you that complain about the police become one and deal with the things they do on a daily basis. The facts of what happened to the man have not came out and you blame the police for his death. Let’s not forget they responded to the call at 4:30am. Something out of the ordinary was going on.
trisha says
Yea the call came in at 2 am yesterday morning it took over 2 hours to get there. This person who wrote the article needs to get a few of his or her facts straight. It’s really bugging me.
AR says
Yeah, the first thing everyone wants to do is blame the cops – it has become very popular lately.
…until they need help or have an intruder – then the cops will be their heroes, I’m sure!
david G says
Sad day for someones family. I wonder what sort of injuries he sustained from the struggle also he could have just died it happens but let’s not forget there was a struggle he didn’t go in the back seat willingly I’m sure. Either way I am eager to see what an autopsy says
Prunella says
Why do people jump to conclusions and blame the police? You don’t even know what the circumstances are. We have some wonderful police officers here. Occasionally there is a bad one in the bunch, but don’t judge the entire police dept. on the few who are bad seeds. This is a dangerous world, and these officers put their lives on the line every day to keep you safe.
You don’t even have the details, yet you jump to conclusions. There will be an investigation. It seems anymore that the police have to prove their innocence while the criminals are the victims.
trisha says
Ah but i do have the details. The story I was told came from two different people at different times that are blood related and the other was married to him. I am not blaming cops just saying they should have known before he was in the back of a cop car that he was unresponsive.
Jason says
So the officers lied about him trying to kick thr windows of the patrol car out?
trisha says
The cops never told his mom or ex wife he did that. That’s what a neighbor reported. I’m pretty sure had he been trying to break a window they would have told that to his close family members. Since they did not it leads me to believe that part of the story is inaccurate. As I stated before he fell to the ground and they were dragging him to the car and them found him to be unresponsive.
Sa says
If you have so much information that according to you doesn’t coincide with the story, why don’t you call the sheriffs department and tell them what you know? Why don’t you give them your account of the situation?
trisha says
Sa….. The information I have came from them! Dang how many times do I have to repeat that.
jh says
trisha is there a way we can talk off of here u seem very into this idk if we have met or know eachother
trisha says
Sure what’s a way for me to contact you?
William says
@Prunella
It’s amazing how many people commenting on local car accidents and crimes are actual eyewitnesses to everything in the AV.
Angela R says
AMEN!!!!
Bob says
One less scum bag.
John Q. Public says
Yep. Only 38,476 more to go.
dc says
Cops out here are the worst… they use to much abusive force.. I seen how they taser my brother after he was in cuff already and didnt even hold him so he wouldnt hit the ground… they disrespectful amd all they know how to do is stand there. . And cover for one another. Bunch of hypocrites
AR says
If your brother didn’t do something wrong, they would not have had to arrest him or taser him! Cops got to do what they got to do , to subdue criminals. Their lives are at stake!
yes, i'm a liberal says
One question: why did they wait until he was “found unresponsive” to call the paramedics? Obviously he was injured during the scuffle.. he obviously then needed medical attention at that time. But instead, they wait until he was “found unresponsive”.
wow…
marciamars says
Just because you have a badge does not mean you bully lie and hurt others be it mentally or physically.
marciamars says
Police in the AV need to be investigated not just for excessive force but obviously lying to cover there butts and falsifying reports…I know of many residents are afraid to come forward because police and fake lawyers scare them into not saying anything and taking pleas….
barbara says
i wonder what happen av still covering up the shooting a littlerock left an good av resident old man shoot point blank dead so whats this story going to say 2906 Acorde Ave.
Ric says
I wonder what that has to do with this gentleman passing away in Lake LA…? I’m also wondering where Hoffa’s corpse is buried too, but again, that has nothing to do with this …
Ric says
SO if they’re so afraid and cannot come forward then how do they wind up making deals with ‘fake’ lawyers and taking pleas without saying anything…? Hmmmmm. You can thank the system of plea bargaining in this country. It’s what enables criminals to win hands in the courtroom. Sorry if you think it’s an injustice when someone guilty of homicide is oppressed and intimidated into copping a deal to plead guilty to manslaughter … Oh where is the justice in today’s society…?
Angela R says
Why is everyone always bitching about cops? If you hate them so much, then don’t call them when you need help. And when you complainers and cop-haters do call them – I hope they don’t show up. May be then you will appreciate them more. Law abiding citizens don’t have problems with cops, only criminals….
MYOB says
I NEVER call the cops for anything. I leave that to the cowards and cop lovers. Child molesters, peeping toms, the pillowcase rapist, and LA County Sheriff’s assigned to the Antelope Valley all occupy the same rung in society.
chris says
[removed] face jus the other day they broke an old man off 5 years for pulling a shotgun on some punks that where on his property the man was like 70 the judicial system pushes you into it if not they threaten you with double the deal time so yeah people take it all the time…..I swear you are a cop sucker
William says
First of be more specific, cause when you say drug people could think that you mean like drugs, so please be more specific.^^^^^^^
Trisha says
Okay. Drug as in drug his dead body into the car.
misunderstood says
She means drug as in they dragged him to the car not drug as in he was high.
bird says
You guys ought to take this on the road! Who’s on 2nd. That’s a comedy skit back in the day. Although there is nothing funny about the death of a person.
Trisha says
Furthermore he did not try to kick out the windows as he was already dead! That was the man from Lancaster yesterday morning!
Trisha says
He had a heart attack before they put him into the back of the car. After falling to the ground the cops drug him and put him into the back of the car and then found out he was unresponsive. Get the story correct please.
Trisha says
Okay. Drug as in drug his dead body into the car.
Ric says
Trisha – Please enlighten us with the ‘true’ facts surrounding the story then, since it seems you would be the best source for info and facts on this incident; only if you have some spare time though; from your posts it seems that you’re very busy with your career in crime scene investigation and analysis, law enforcement response time analyst, journalism, lawyer, cardiologist, pathologist and community activist. Also please clarify if he was either unresponsive or already deceased from the myocardial infarction before the cops dragged/drug him to the car because your statement contains numerous contradictions. In the mean time, please let’s all focus the blame on the cops – If they wouldn’t of gotten involved and went to the call, the guy would probably not of resisted them, wouldn’t of gotten into a struggle and he wouldn’t of died and would of probably wound up offing some innocent family and then more people like Trisha here could criticize the cops for not doing anything to prevent a tragedy. Which is it? You complain because it took 2 hours for the cops to respond, so obviously you feel there was a need for law enforcement, and when they do show up the guy fights with the cops and suffers a cardiac episode and now it’s the cops’ fault. Maybe, just maybe there’s a slight chance that somehow the deceased might need to be held accountable for just a tiny bit of blame here – I mean, he was under the influence and fought with the cops, or is this just another pack of lies too? Care to enlighten us Trish. Please?
trisha says
Maybe you should go back and read over what I said. None of it contradicts itself. I’m just stating the facts that were given to me from his mother and ex wife at two different times the cops told them. On another note smarty pants I never blamed the cops. I only said this story is not 100% accurate. I also never condoned any of his actions. I did say they should have checked him though after he fell to the ground before dragging him to the back of the patrol car. In no means am I saying his actions were acceptable just telling part of the story left out!
Ric says
Since we’re exchanging ‘notes’ allow me to point out that posting 2nd hand information from two different sources is a far cry from ‘stating the facts’ – In essence you did point blame towards the cops when you criticized their response time and offered your opinion on how the matter should of been handled. I’m not attacking you, I’m merely pointing out the holes in your ‘statement of facts’ – I’m rational and down to earth and by no means am I doing a happy dance because this guy passed away. It appears he was mentally ill and possibly under the influence of a controlled substance. His behavior was erratic and per other posts as well as your posts, you agree he was hallucinating and had a history of substance abuse and mental illness, as well as a liver disorder that induced hallucinations. (I read all of you’re posts as well as the ones you agreed with) – Obviously this behavior warranted someone to call for help which suggests that there was concern over not just his well being but also ‘suggests’ that someone felt he might harm himself or others. Was there any mention of him having mental health issues, substance abuse problems, or prior psychotic episodes when the police were initially called? Your frustration regarding the ‘whole story’ not being told works both ways. The man had issues, it’s unfortunate it ended the way it did but the conspiracy theories floating around that basically label the cops as a bunch of nocturnal murderers out for blood don’t fly with me. If he had been subdued by family members or neighbors after trying to fight them, the very same thing could of happened – My condolences to everyone involved. Unfortunately his family won’t get much support from any community action groups or minority watch dog groups, because the race card can’t be tossed onto the table. That isn’t stopping the usual suspects from chiming in with totally irrelevant posts about the ‘renegade’ cops in the AV – Trisha, your intentions to get the entire story ‘out there’ is cool and I respect that – But the entire story is never going to come out in a way that pleases everyone. You’re better off utilizing your time comforting the family instead of trying to do damage control. And on a side note to the conspiracy theorists: For those that feel law enforcement is a bunch of savage killers in the AV that unfairly target everyone that isn’t blonde hair/blue eyed WASP folk – Don’t call 911 – Call Al Sharpton. See how long his response time is.

I know one thing. People didn’t waste time go I g through his home

Drug OD or aneurysm…
My cynical side says thank God it was a white man. Cause it can’t be racist if it was a white man.. or abuse of power if it was a white man.
Nobody is going to be outraged at this death.
Coronado isn’t going to have a press conference and speak at the Grim Reaper’s Field Rep (that man has a press conference any time someone dies).
It will be said that at least now white people can see what minorities go through.
Well.. ok.
In the end… the man wasn’t right in the head. Someone missed a cue. A man died.
