LANCASTER – The promise of free gas sent many drivers scrambling to a Lancaster gas station Tuesday morning.
A procession of cars tailed SoCal Honda’s big, blue Free Gas Tanker Truck as it pulled into the Valero gas station around 10:30 a.m. at 500 East Avenue K.
The Honda drivers kept coming in, and the line soon snaked outside the gas station and down Avenue K.
In the end, the Honda Guys in Blue pumped almost 450 gallons of fuel for Palmdale and Lancaster residents on Tuesday, compliments of the SoCal Honda Dealers.
The TankerTuesdays promotion kicked off in the Antelope Valley and will continue across Southern California in surprise cities. The Helpful Tanker Trucks will be out every Tuesday through Labor Day, surprising loyal Honda drivers with random pumps of helpfulness.
The Helpful teams have also been lending a hand in a variety of unexpected ways in the Antelope Valley community for the last eight years – from volunteering at the local resource center and senior home, and handing out water to park patrons, to carrying groceries, putting away carts for shoppers, and picking up litter at local parks and more.
It’s their job to be helpful, no strings attached.

The Cambodian family that owns that gas station is a great group. Hardworking immigrants who have made a legitimate life for themselves here. Its a shame how hard the city of Lancaster puts the boot on these people.
