The City’s fifth Neighborhood House will be dedicated to education, with a tutoring program for all ages. It will also feature a community garden and offer housing for a veteran family as well.
Director of Neighborhood Services, Mike Miller added, “As we know, it’s important to take care of those who have served our country all around the world.”

I seem to recall that Lancaster’s Neighborhood Houses were met with suspicion by residents. People who would benefit greatly were afraid to let their kids go there. They wouldn’t use them for meetings because they looked to official and many in the communities have been raised to be wary of strangers. Trusted members of their communities need to help raise awareness. Have a booth at Back to School Night, to let them see who will be there and talk about how it will be good for their community.
