PALMDALE – The public is invited to a debate next week featuring California Assemblymember Steve Fox (D-Palmdale) and Republican challenger Tom Lackey.
The event is being presented by the Junior State of America (JSA) club at Guidance Charter High School (GCS).
“This is a student-run forum that will be moderated by the students,” said GCS Executive Director Kamal Al-Khatib. “The school does it because it’s part of our Junior State of America club, a civic leadership program at the high school… This forum is important because it will provide information about the candidates to the community.”
The debate will start at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22 in the Multi-Purpose Room on the Guidance Charter 7-12 Campus, located at 37230 37th Street East in Palmdale.
Audience members will be allowed to pose questions directly to the two candidates. The forum also will be streamed live by Guidance Charter School Media Pathway students, according to Al-Khatib.
Guidance Charter School is providing the informational forum as a public service to the community, Al-Khatib said, but the school does not support or endorse any of the candidates.
For more information, call 661-285-1600 or e-mail kamal@thegcs.org.
The 2014 California State Assembly elections will be held on Tuesday, November 4.
